Last July I mentioned that I had found some old road sign photos that my grandpa took in the 1950s.  Since then I've been talking with various family members, trying to get more info about those photos.  Now I've got them posted for public consumption, and I've included as much description info as I have at the moment:

There are some colored US route shields from Arizona (but the photos are b&w); several old-style US route shields; and a couple vintage state highway markers. Enjoy!  :D

Neat! I will have to look all these!

I'm guessing the US 16 marker in Minnesota would be someplace in the eastern quarter of the state based on the hills in the background.

Marty Hogan took these pics in recent years, but the signs in them are certainly 1950's vintage (taken on old US-2 in Michigan's Upper Peninsula):

Normally I'd say "don't post to threads that haven't been touched in 3 years"... but once I clicked on that second link I changed my mind. That sign still there? It just might get me to drive to the U.P. sooner than I thought.

the UP is filled with old signs.

there's a pair of old guide signs for West Lant Road - one white with black text, the other black with white. just off exit 348 on I-75.  also check exit 359 for an old MI-134 cutout, as well as an old I-75 state-named shield.

As far as I know they still are.  I should add that this stretch of old US-2 is between Iron River and Wakefield.  Also, there's a vintage "PASS WITH CARE" sign on southbound old US-2 between St. Ignace and Rudyard. :coffee:

Hello,
I took the photos ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/smartee_martee/ ) along US2 in Michigan.  The signs are on the what is known as the Marenisco cutoff of the original section of US2.  It is between Marenisco and Watersmeet.  They filled all the potholes in (relatively speaking) sometime between the fall of 2009 and the fall of 2010.  In 2009, there were many holes in the blacktop revealing all that bright white original concrete underneath.  I took the pictures in 2010 and all those were filled.  There are many, many old signs along this route.   And one bar.

Sorry for bumping a 10+ year old thread, but I am curious if these signs are still posted?
