List the control cities posted in a city and/or metropolitan area. You don't have to list all of them

I-10 (US 90) West: San Antonio
US 59/I-69 North: Cleveland

SH 225: Pasadena, La Porte
SH 249: Tomball

Springfield MO:
I-44 E- Rolla (St Louis at US 65) West- Joplin (Tulsa at US 65)
US 65 S- Branson North- Sedalia (formally Buffalo)
US 60 E- Rogersville (Cabool at US 65) West- Republic or James River Freeway
MO 13 S- Nixa North- Bolivar
US 160 S Nixa North- Willard

ozarkman417

Joplin MO:
I-44 East- Springfield
I-44 West- Tulsa
US 71/I-49 South- Fort Smith
US 71/I-49 North- Kansas City

Kansas City and Saint Louis are an interesting case with their beltways. Their control cities are for the most part the same cities of the next interstate they intersect.

Looking at some of the signs on and near I-229 and its interchanges, I cannot find a single sign with I-229 and a control city. I suppose they would be Albert Lea going North and Sioux City going South.

For freeways / expressways leaving the South Hampton Roads area...

I-64 West - Hampton / Richmond
I-664 North - Newport News / Hampton / Williamsburg / Richmond
US-58 West - Franklin / Emporia
US-460 West - Petersburg
US-13 South - Ahoskie / Edenton
VA-168 South - Outer Banks / Nags Head / Manteo
US-17 South - Elizabeth City

While it would be logical for an outlet such as US-58 or US-17, I don't believe any signage for "To I-95" exists anywhere in the area. I-95 is roughly 60 miles from Suffolk along US-58, and roughly 130 miles from Chesapeake along US-17 / US-64, reaching I-95 about 55 miles south of US-58 near Rocky Mount, NC.

Kind of fun to write this down, I guess, even if many examples are implicitly obvious.

Rochester:
I-390 South: Corning
I-490 West: Buffalo
I-490 East: Victor

Buffalo:
I-90 East: Albany
I-90 West: Erie, PA
I-190 North: Niagara Falls, then Lewiston
And I guess I-990: Lockport is a bit of an edge case.

Syracuse:
I-81 North: Watertown
I-81 South: Binghamton
I-90 East: Albany
I-90 West: Buffalo

It looks like non-interstates do count, but either way, it's a bit irrelevant for NY since so few non-interstates have proper control cities other than at interstate junctions.

Tucson:

I-19 South:  Nogales
I-10 West:  Phoenix
I-10 East:  El Paso

Outside the Tucson metro area, but the control city for I-8 West at I-10 is San Diego.

Phoenix:

I-17 North:  Flagstaff
I-10 West:  Los Angeles
I-10 East:  Tucson
US 60 East:  Mesa/Globe

Interesting that there are no control cities for Loops 101, 202, and 303.
Main Line Interstates clinched:  2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 37, 39, 43, 44, 45, 55, 57, 59, 65, 68, 71, 72, 74 (IA-IL-IN-OH), 76 (OH-PA-NJ), 78, 80, 82, 86 (ID), 88 (IL)

Oops, missed your Boston. Strangely enough, the north end of I-295 in MA/RI signs Warwick even though I think it's faster to go through Providence on I-95.

Louisville:

St Louis, Lexington, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Indianapolis.

Cincinnati:

Louisville, Lexington, Dayton, Columbus, and Indianapolis.

Lexington:

Frankfort/Louisville, Georgetown/Cincinnati, Winchester/Ashland, and Richmond/Knoxville. (For some reason, the signs at the I-64/I-75 interchanges list the next county seat as well as a distant control city.

Charleston:

Huntington, Beckley, Parkersburg, and Clarksburg.

Nashville:

Memphis, Knoxville, Huntsville, Louisville, Chattanooga and Clarksville.

Knoxville:

Lexington, Asheville, Nashville, and Chattanooga.

Columbus:

Dayton, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Wheeling.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.
