Heard on Facebook that the Midwest convenience store chain Casey's Country Store has given themselves a makeover.  Their new sign drops Country Store from the name and the canopy over their gas pumps is all red with the storefront also red in color.

Hope this is a different Casey's chain, but I'm guessing there is only one.

Casey's started a makeover in 2021. I took this photo in May 2021, with both the old and new logos.

I don't do Facebook, so I can't see what FreewayJim posted. Is it different from what's shown in my 2021 photo?

No, it's the same.  There is a marked lack of enthusiasm for the new design.

It looks annoyingly similar to the new Wendy's wordmark to the point some might almost confuse the two.

Unlike Wendy's, I doubt we will see a Casey's in-car on FOX during the Daytona 500 anytime soon so that part is less annoying.

Haven't seen this updated branding in SoIL, even at recently built locations

Still about $1 too high.

I have noticed two newer styles to Casey's stores.  The newest style is being applied to stores that are being built from the ground up in the Chicagoland area. For some reason, Casey's has had a firm presence all over rural Illinois, but hasn't decided to enter the Chicagoland market until the last few years.  Now that they're here in Chicagoland, the new stores are being built with the more simplistic branding, omitting the word "general store".  Example: https://goo.gl/maps/P4xu4fAbS4cahxi8A

The other new style has been coming to stores sitting in downstate Illinois and in Iowa that have undergone renovation and expansion.  This style has been popping up for the last 10-15 years or so. Example: https://goo.gl/maps/dazL7zaWVpHcR64h8

The rural purge all over again. :bigass:

In the seventies CBS pulled the plug and cancelled a bunch of rural based sitcoms for more suburban type of comedy. It was called the Rural Purge then.

Now Casey’s is appealing to a more suburban type of clientele and dropping the rural themed name and feel for the contemporary convenience store look.

Casey's has encroached on the MSP fringes but largely stayed clear of the main metro other than one store in Brooklyn Center. This is about the same as Kwik Trip has done so far which despite its heavy physical presence in the second and third rings and digital presence on local TV and sports game advertising has only built one store located significantly inside I-494/694.

I just hope the new simple branding doesn't take over the rural locations too.  The "general store" thing is a decent gimmick.

Unfortunately it is taking over rural locations as well. All the locations that are being remodeled/refreshed/rebranded (ostensibly all of them at some point) are dropping the "General Store" from signage and the website (and its associated logos) now lack any mention of "General Store." That new logo is standard for refreshes/re-brands plus new stores, and these signage changes are happening on stores all over the midwest, including rural areas and in their characteristic small towns. I've seen this hit even the smallest and oldest Casey's locations in the smallest towns (I've noticed many in Iowa/Missouri/Nebraska/Minnesota), so I don't think it has anything to do with urban vs. rural. Further, this new logo is on all of their private label snacks, drink cups, etc.

The first link Paulthemapguy posted was a retrofitted Bucky's in Chicagoland that happened to be purchased by Casey's after they rolled out the new logo, so it's got the new branding. They purchased dozens of locations in Omaha as well, and gave them the same treatment. It seems like they'll get to all of them eventually.

For an example of an non-new-build/non-aquisition rural location with the new logo, see this Casey's in Springville IA: https://www.google.com/maps/place/605+6th+St,+Springville,+IA+52336/@42.0509259,-91.4437614,3a,75y,242.89h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sMcjB073MpTj4b5wN1UXiMg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!4m7!3m6!1s0x87e48de03ce76aa7:0xfb7a1821b491d491!8m2!3d42.0507657!4d-91.4441864!10e5!16s%2Fg%2F11g5zzx9hw?entry=ttu

Casey's expanded to the Knoxville, TN area after they purchased all of Pilot's non-truck stop locations about two years ago.  Pilot originally started in Knoxville as a simple gas station chain.  Over the years as they grew across the country as a truck stop chain, they continued to maintain and update their original gas stations in their home area until I guess they decided it was time to stop trying to compete with the likes of Weigel's and Speedway.  Of course these Knoxville locations carry the new Casey's livery.  Here is an example in Farragut, TN:
