Anyone occasionally getting the "your last post from this IP was within the last 15 seconds" error even if you haven't posted in a while?
Yes, I have. I first discovered that that message exists about six months ago, which was accurate (I wanted to post two things at the same time in different threads). However, I've now occasionally been getting it recently at other times.
I've never seen that one.
I get it occasionally but rarely. Mostly when welcoming new people to the forum- it takes so little time to type welcome :spin:. Besides that it isn't really an issue.
I get that message all the time on my phone.
That's because I'm hiding in your walls.

I've been getting it too, sometime on the first time I've tried to post for a day. Waiting more than 15 seconds before trying to post again will just produce the same error message.
Logging out, clearing browser history, then logging back in seems to work for me.
Has there been any specific thing any of you are doing that may be triggering this? I have never heard of anyone having this issue before.

Only ever happens on my phone and if I'm replying to someone by clicking on Quote.
I've had it happen on my computer. Unlike what Revive 755 said, waiting 15 seconds works for me.
I got that message, then when I resubmit I get "You already submitted this post! You might have accidentally double clicked or tried to refresh the page." though my post did not go through.
Yesterday almost every post said that I already submitted it, to wait again. I figured it was an internal error.
I got it once yesterday, I had two posts on different tabs I wanted to post. I only posted one of them.
I haven't gotten this error once.
What browser, version, and OS are you all using?
Microsoft Edge, don't know which version, Windows 11.
I've been using a more recent version of Firefox and Windows 10.
Version number should be on the about screen (Help > About; on Firefox you need to press Alt to get the menu bar to appear).
Only happens to me on iOS. I noticed it began to happen after the MMM IP range purge.
Mac OS 13.4.1, Safari 16.5.1.
Firefox 116.0.2 (64-bit), haven't gotten that message once (though I haven't posted much, to be fair).
I have on my iPad the blue browser icon with a red dial.

Does it have a name or a version number? Vagueness does not help us troubleshoot this.
I've never gotten that error at all. At this moment I'm using Windows 10 and Firefox 116.0.2 (64-bit), though I also regularly access the forum via an iPad running whatever the latest version of the Brave browser is.

He's referring to Apple's Safari browser. Seems to only update with the OS; I can't find a version number on mine.
And a quick test within 15 seconds... (editing to add no problems for me w Safari on iPad).
The day I had the issue - Vivaldi 6.1, Linux Mint 21.2 "Victoria" Cinnamon edition
I've seen this message a number of times, but as far as I can recall it's only been in instances where it legitimately applied.
Just saw it again. In this case, it appears the board could not differentiate between a successful post and a post attempt that was interrupted by the "someone else has posted a reply, you may want to review your post" message.
It's possible that the bug is that if anyone, anywhere on the forum, has posted within the last 15 seconds, it will show the message. I just got it in another thread, checked the most recent posts (and times) on the home page, and it was the case.
Maybe we could test it by having two (or more) people post at the exact same time (9:00:00 EDT?) and see if one of the two (whoever happens to be later) gets the message. I'm willing as long as someone else agrees.
I've been getting the same thing lately, and it's always when I'm making my first post of the day, for example. I have to copy my post, go back to the thread, paste my post, hit reply again, and hit post again, because if I just hit the back button and hit the post button again that way, it says I'm making a duplicate post even though the post didn't even actually go through.
I just got it for the first time, using Firefox. It was also my first post of the day. I tried leaving the thread, re-clicking "reply", pasting my text, and posting, but still got the error. Trying that one more time for some reason worked.
This post (second of the day) worked fine.
I got a time out notice when I tried to post something. I had to cut, copy, and repost my post.
Just started getting the error today (Chrome v119, Windows 10). When I go back the Post button simply doesn't do anything, so I had to copy my post and refresh the page.

I checked the recent posts after it went through and there were 2 within 2 seconds of each other, so I guess that isn't the case:

Having someone else on the forum post within 15 seconds is a necessary but not sufficient condition. Every time I've checked, someone else has posted within 15 seconds, but it obviously doesn't happen every time. As someone else mentioned, it's often my first post of the day.
