I once wished for this in Canroads mailing list and we might get our wish. https://www.todayville.com/province-twinning-david-thompson-highway-11-from-sylvan-lake-to-rocky-mountain-house/

QuoteImproving David Thompson Highway and creating jobs
The Government of Alberta will twin a 66-kilometre stretch of the David Thompson Highway between Sylvan Lake and Rocky Mountain House.
This $120-million project is part of Alberta's Recovery Plan and will create about 582 jobs, while upgrading the highway and improving traffic flow along this important recreation corridor.

I'd like to see AB 11 extended from AB 93 through Howse Pass into BC and connect with the TCH near Donald (north of Golden), and so would business interests out of Red Deer and Central Alberta. Unfortunately, the route requires going through Banff National Park and having the BC government construct a highway that would be high cost and low benefit to them, so it's more of a pipe dream at this stage. Saying that, David Thompson Country is closer to Edmonton than Jasper, so it might be a tourist boost to that area, especially with places like the national parks and Kananaskis becoming more crowded.

Here's some videos that the Central Alberta Economic Partnership put forward a few years back promoting a western extension.
