The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin has passed away following a battle with Cancer.

Sadly, another legend has passed on.  Local radio station gave the news, then followed up with a 'mini-marathon' of some of her songs, including Freeway of Love.
"And ninety-five is the route you were on.  It was not the speed limit sign."  - Jim Croce (from Speedball Tucker)

"My life has been a tapestry
Of years of roads and highway signs" (with apologies to Carole King and Tom Rush)

Not many surviving cast members of The Blues Brothers, are there.

1. ^Paul Rubens, Dan Ackroyd and Frank Oz come to mind, but I can't think of any others at the moment.

2. I like roadman's reference to one of her later hits.

3. I think that  I first became aware of her from Steely Dan's "Hey, Nineteen."

(Besides Ackroyd, Oz, and Rubens already mentioned...)

"The Band"...
Steve Cropper (touring with Dave Mason as we speak)
Willie Hall
Tom Malone (also part of CBS Orchestra/w David Letterman for nearly 2 decades)
Lou Marini
Murphy Dunne
----
Steve Lawrence
Chaka Khan
Luther 'Guitar Jr' Johnson
Calvin 'Fuzz' Jones (Calvin & Luther were part of Muddy Waters' band that were backing up John Lee Hooker, when the brothers come upon Maxwell St)
Steven Williams (one of the troopers attempting to arrest the Brothers)
Joe Walsh (guy who jumps on table when the band performs Jailhouse Rock at the end)
Steven Spielberg
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

I had no idea that Cropper is still alive.

I bet most, if not all, of the orphans are still alive, too.

ETA: I believe Judy Belushi is still alive, too (she played the woman who has the cigarette bullwhipped out of her mouth during the performance of the theme from "Rawhide" )

SiriusXM has fired up Channel 49 as an Aretha Franklin Tribute

Wasn't Cropper the one who  took a number 2 and stunk up the toilet on Seinfeld when Elaine had to use the lavatory on her plane ride back to NYC?

Also keep in mind Franklin used The Band's song The Weight and how the late Duanne Allman played guitar on her cover track of the song.

Also R-E-S-P-E-C-T for the late singer.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.
