No more US 46 or NJ 3 shields at the Eastern and Western Split in Newark.  Plus only the crossings. No exit numbers anymore.  Interesting.

Plus the old sign assembly on the ground.

Quote from: vdeane on June 09, 2024, 03:23:32 PMEDIT: It appears that I am also affected by the same Facebook dislike for notifying of site updates to roadgeek pages as CA Highways, as Facebook just removed the corresponding post for this update, claiming that it's "spam".  As such, I will be deleting the page when I next update the site, currently expected in late July, unless a favorable resolution to the issue is arrived at (which I am not expecting, because this is Facebook, and their corporate policy is basically "make the site as bad as possible and then make it worse").  As such, you'll want to follow along here or via RSS for future updates; probably not an issue if you're reading this, but the point stands.  It was a lot of fun to curate "best of" photo previews (and this one even had a bonus photo not on the website, which is too bad) and to interact with the people who read the site, but alas, all good things must come to an end it seems.

Interesting.  I haven't had that so far (although my view counts seem to have mysteriously dropped by more than 50% earlier this year).  Maybe give it a little time and try again.  They seem to be always tweaking the algorithm, and they make no shortage of errors along the way.  It's a shame that they don't provide a way to appeal these decisions.

Span wire traffic signals at JFK Airport. I found more but no need to post them.

Looks like Canada's 30+ year title drought will continue for at least another year.

It would be great if there was rail service between Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor and Detroit. That could work. However, I think it would be highly unlikely that service on the US-23 corridor would be effective in relieving traffic. I imagine most people using US-23 are headed beyond Flint and Saginaw to northern Michigan while avoiding Detroit-area traffic. A rail link wouldn't attract many riders or relieve traffic on 23/75.

Not surprised that the Celtics list, but I am surprised by the margin. i expect things will be different on Monday for Game 5 (617 day).

Quote from: cl94 on June 14, 2024, 08:03:58 PMHonestly, if anywhere on the Vegas-Oregon corridor needs to be 4-laned, it's US 395 between Hallelujah Junction and Susanville. I'm not saying it's needed, but it has higher traffic counts than any of the 2-lane segments in Nevada by a decent margin and is more important in terms of need for redundancy given that it's an alternate for I-80 during winter.

(personal opinion emphasized)

There was a Caltrans study, but I cannot find it, of the US 395 segment being recommended to be widened from SR 36 to Hallelujah Junction.  A local news story shows some of the efforts to widen the stretch: https://www.lassennews.com/commission-investigates-highway-395-improvements

So they're going to spend a couple billion dollars to save a few hundred "large-diameter old-growth redwood trees"? The hell with the trees, just move the road inland off the steep slope.
