I recently paid a visit to Shasta Lake to get a couple CA 151 shield photos on Shasta Dam Boulevard.  CA 151 is closely tied to the Shasta Dam segment of the Central Valley Project of the 1930s and 1940s.  Shasta Dam Boulevard was constructed to connect the company town sites for the Shasta Dam project by Pacific Constructors Incorporated.  By 1939 Shasta Dam Boulevard was added to the State Highway System as Legislative Route 209 (although the route number wouldn't be formally adopted until 1943).  Shasta Dam Boulevard was assigned CA 151 during the 1964 State Highway Renumbering.  This article is slightly different than our standard fare California Highway articles as it features a lot of Central Valley Project materials given that they are tied so much to present CA 151.

Thanks for posting; we drove that route during late August, when smoke from the wildfires was widespread across the valley.
