It's that time again. Yet another month has passed in the year that has become a blur. But that means you get headlines as your Halloween Treat. Enjoy, and remember to brush after reading so you don't get any potholes.

The South Lincoln Highway series going on right now has caught my interest.  We are hoping out to Tahoe this next weekend to check out do some cycling (weather permitting) but I have a couple destinations (including the new Echo Summit Bridge) in mind that pertain to the South Lincoln Highway and Lake Tahoe Wagon Road.  Of note; if anyone has the Mosquito Bridge on their list of things to do you might want to get on that.  The replacement project is slated to begin next year and I don't know if the old bridge will be preserved.

Also, I'm noticing that our Facebook posts usually have a ten to one viewing ratio to our blog site.  As much as I like writing I have started to use snippets of the blog series to do quick photo summaries of full highways on the Gribblenation Facebook page.

CA 52 really was terrible for terrain, but it's been bad for years. It was bad when I was a starving student at UCSD, even.

The Summerland HOV lanes will be great on US 101 but I just bypass the whole thing with CA 46 now when I'm driving to the Bay Area (which I haven't done in over a year, though).

If you're up for more scenic take on the Central Valley cut off of US 101 try out 198 and 25 the next time you're out that way.  Doesn't lose you much time over 46 but is infinitely more scenic.

I tried that once but I found CA 198 a little too gnarly for my tastes. It is pretty though.
