I'm pleased to announce the release of "Road Meets: An Illustrated History, 1999-2024", a 180-page that chronicles the history of these  events from their humble beginnings 25 years ago up to the present. My thanks go out to Adam Prince for contributing the Foreword for this book, and to those who assisted in the research and assembly of what became the final product! The book is available free of charge for viewing/download at the link below:

The master list of Road Meets held over the past 25 years (compiled during the last six months of research for this project) is available for download/viewing at the link below:

Finally, a link to Paul Dienhart's "History of Road Meets" map is already provided in the appendices of the book, but here is an additional link to that map for those interested. The map places all of the locations of these events over the years onto an interactive page where folks and view each event separately and see the larger trends in their locations over the years.

Not the same metro, but CT I-91 exit 3 Trumbull Street (New Haven) and exit 32B Trumbull Street (Hartford). Will be renumbered 1E and 38B.

Quote from: Anthony_JK on February 14, 2024, 01:48:36 AMAlso, have they decided whether they will still use the entirety of Loop 20 north of US 59 for I-69, or will they build a cut-off for a more direct connection?

They were planning to have I-69 break off into a direct connection...but they still may use the loop for the eventual extension of I-2 from the Rio Grande Valley along what is now US-83, and have I-2 still I-69 at where ever it breaks off.

Yeah.  Permanence is sort of the point though.  Buy a house in this subdivision and you can be sure no one will ever build a 10-story tower south of you putting your house and garden in permanent shade...

Geofencing. There is a subchannel of PBS I enjoy but that the Twin Cities doesn't have, and a number of web streams of that channel I could find were blocked because I wasn't a resident of those TV markets. It's fucking PBS. Get over yourselves.

I would be cautious of the FreightWaves article (no longer active, but archived at https://web.archive.org/web/20221127194958/https://www.freightwaves.com/news/freightwaves-classicsinfrastructure-groundbreaking-held-for-i-805-in-san-diego). Large portions of that article were copied from the English Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_805) without acknowledgment. (Following the fork to the AARoads Wiki, the most up to date version is at https://wiki.aaroads.com/wiki/Interstate_805).

Quote from: MikieTimT on May 10, 2024, 04:58:27 PMiDriveArkansas.com has the next segment of the "Monticello Bypass" shown on the map if you check the Construction checkbox, so they must be moving dirt down there now.  Listed as completed late 2027 and will be AR-569.  Ends at AR-293, so not exactly a Segment of Independent Utility if you ask me until they take it all the way to US-65.
I'd say it's a SIU... it's a very quick connection to US-278 from SR-293.

Quote from: Life in Paradise on May 10, 2024, 12:59:00 PMI still cringe every time I see I 40 take the south turn to Wilmington and think that NC has received approval for I-87 from Norfolk/Virginia Beach to Raleigh. An east/west interstate runs south for over 100 miles just to get to the Atlantic, where as another interstate comes from the Atlantic and travels over 100 miles mostly east/west and is numbered north/south.

Methinks you wouldn't like the routings of I-26 or I-85, either. But they've been so well-established for decades that there'd be no use in changing them now.
Since he's picky about a "100 mile" stretch... don't tell him about I-94 in Illinois / Wisconsin, I-81 in northeastern Tennessee / southwest Virginia, I-75 in southern Florida, I-79 east of Charleston... I could continue.

Quote from: The Ghostbuster on May 10, 2024, 01:49:37 PMMaybe they should have gone for an even first-digit number for the US 17/US 64 corridor, such as 44, 50, or 56 (or any other number between 44 and 62). However, the Interstate 87 designation was chosen (it could have been Interstate 89, or even a correctly-grid-positioned Interstate 99). Also, I think Interstate 42 was a better choice for the US 70 corridor than Interstate 36 would have been. It's too late to renumber either corridor, just as it is way too late to renumber the out-of-grid Interstates 73 and 74.
Regardless of the numbering debate, I-87 fits the grid. It's "southern" terminus is located between I-85 and I-95.

Quote from: roadman65 on May 10, 2024, 06:41:34 PMSchool bus stops where the driver remains indefinitely with lights flashing and no child departing or boarding the bus. Today a bus held up traffic for over five minutes due to a stop like this.

I'd imagine this might only happen if the school district insists on a parent meeting their kid when they alight.
