When was US 59 commissioned?

Sanderson's site says 1934, while Droz' site says 1935.  I need to know so I can accurately date this:

national highway 1

According to Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_59 it says that US 59 was planned earlier as a northerly extension of US 73 from MO into IA and then MN. But AASHTO approved '59' for the number. What was wrong with 73? Note: I'm not actually sure when 59 was commissioned, but i reckon it was some time between 1934 and 1935.

I'd go with Droz' date (1935).  Most of the dates on my timelines were taken from Droz' site as it appeared approx. 10 years ago.  So what probably happened is: his site said 1934 back when I referenced it for my page, but since then he's revised the date on his page to 1935.

Looks like my sign is celebrating its 75th birthday this year.  Thanks.

How do you know the sign was fabricated at the same time of the route's commissioning?

It's an embossed cutout, and they weren't used much past the mid 30s.  It's possible that it's a little newer, but I suspect it was posted when the highway was commissioned.
