In less than three weeks I've exhorted another 1,500+ photos to join the Internet for your viewing pleasure.  Huge amounts of new content for Louisiana, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland, some areas of which have been historically lacking in road coverage online.  A collection of Polish signs for your pleasure.  2 videos, cats-eye signs, and more bridges and scenery than you can shake a Truth Stick (TM) at.  As always, the updates are posted at http://www.alpsroads.net/roads/ and check out the new, improved, 35% more cuddly background color.  Comments, suggestions, corrections, submittals, etc. are always appreciated.

Ah okay. Well, can't wait to see them. I know within the next few weeks I finally want to upload Florida photos from all the way back in April.

Alps' NON Roads UPDATE!!!
« Reply #55 on: January 28, 2011, 05:55:17 AM »

Good morning!  For the first time in two years, I've updated the NON roads part of my website!  So click on over to http://www.alpsroads.net/www - note the different address this time - and see what the fuss is about.  Several new states, some incredible scenery, several sunsets and sunrises, a bunch of videos, some incredible events, all are in the mix here.  Even if you're a road enthusiast, you can appreciate a little change of pace!

Even though it's not roads, comments, corrections, etc. are still welcomed.  I discovered a lot of broken links - if you see something, say something! (TM Port Authority Police)

So when you will update the Roads section?
600 more non-roads to go from AL, LA, MS.  LA is half-edited, the other two are done.  Then I have to write them up.  Figure by my birthday I'll start again on roads.  These non-roads were piling up though - back to early 2009!

After months with nothing but non-roads, Alps' ROADS has finally returned with over 1,500 photos for your perusal. Highlights include:
  • 66 new Mexico photos
  • 22 new Delaware 1 photos (2 construction projects)
  • VA 43/US 11 James River Bridge photos
  • 2 new Vermont covered bridges and almost 100 other VT photos
  • 7 new videos total
But the star of the show is NJ, with new I-78 and Garden State Parkway construction photos, Turnpike widening photos, a lot more of the Beesley's Point Bridge on US 9, US 46/NJ 15 construction, NJ 52 Causeway Bridge construction, historical NJ 169, and several hundred other photos (nearly 1,000 in all!). For all the details you'll want to visit Alps' Roads.

you've got a 404 on Old Route 1 and 3 in Mexico.

I should recognize those pictures - I was the one driving around with Lou Corsaro!

here are my photos from that trip:

Yours are better, I looked at them way back when they were posted. Fixed the link, it was a failed numbering plan.

Regarding "D" in the federal route marker for cuotas:  the full official label for a toll highway in Mexico is carretera directa de cuota--literally "direct highway with a toll"--so the "D" is for directa.  Also, kilometerposting behavior varies somewhat in Mexico, but generally kilometerposts count down to a state capital or other large city, and up to the state line.

http://dgst.sct.gob.mx/index.php?id=659 is a decent set of maps and route logs of federal and state highways in each Mexican state (if you can get them to load; they seem a little slow right now). I don't think there are defined routings through cities; treat signs as if they had invisible 'TO's.

What's a few months between friends? Have an update! http://www.alpsroads.net/roads and the following details:

* Almost 1,000 photos from Pennsylvania, focusing on the central and western areas of the state
* 5 new videos
* 2 new meet pages and 1 new route numbering scheme (already posted elsewhere in the forum)
* I have no idea. It's been too long. Comments, corrections, etc. always welcome.

I should have taken notes on the questions you posed on the Kentucky pages. I can probably answer most of them.

All the links to routes on your RI route numbering scheme lead to US 404. ;)

Welcome to another update! Brought to you by the letters M and D, and the letters O and H. Those are the features this month (just in time for the Watertown meet, too), and here are some things to watch for:

Akron and Baltimore meet pages are finally up, just a year and a half late...

In Ohio, check out OH 172, the former Lincoln Highway. You'll like what you see.

In Maryland, there is a LOT of interesting stuff:
* Alt. US 40 and Casselman River Bridge, US 40 and Wilson Bridge, and the other National Road photos west of Baltimore
* MD 144 and Monocacy River bridges, and even more from the National Road
* US 50 and Choptank River Bridge, and other new photos east of DC
* ICC construction (I-95, MD 200, MD 97 pages)
* I-95 around Baltimore, I-70 and I-83 stubs with button copy and MD 149 stubs (Moravia Road)
* Old MD 194 near Pennsylvania

The complete list is at www.alpsroads.net/roads. As always, comments, corrections, suggestions, contributions, etc. are welcome!

I am thankful for being able to process coherent thought after an all-nighter of photo editing. You can be thankful to have over 1,400 new photos and 6 new videos to peruse in my latest update! Later on we'll all be thankful for the copious amounts of turkey, fixings, and especially desserts that we get to ingest. But until then, have some fresh Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts material to tide you over and get you through the long weekend. I will be thankful for comments, corrections, etc. as always!

Ho, Ho, Hupdate! Sneaking under your tree this evening is another 1,500 photo update, this time from the states of New York and Connecticut. Here are some of the highlights:

New York:
I-78 - Cooper Union exhibit on a Lower Manhattan Expressway concept
I-278 - Lots of Verrazano Bridge photos and a trip under the Gowanus Expwy.
NY 39 - Three old stone bridges
NY 211 - One very memorable sign error
Syracuse - Tipperary Hill with the famous upside-down traffic light

Connecticut: Hundreds of updated and new freeway button copy photos
CT 72 - New expressway construction photos in Bristol

There's plenty more, including a total of 6 new videos, so click on over to http://www.alpsroads.net/roads and feast on an update more fattening than a Christmas goose! As always, comments, corrections, information, etc. are welcome.

Realizing I've hit a stall with my Arizona scenery photos, I've nonetheless decided to get the 1,200 road photos online, featuring old US 66, the old US 80 Ocean to Ocean Bridge, and incredible amounts of button copy. There's a lot more from US 66 coming in the scenery photos, so stay tuned!
