An Excellent Link for Phoenix/Arizona Road Information
« on: April 04, 2020, 01:09:30 PM »

I found this one early this morning, and wanted to pass it along.  If you are as amazed about Phoenix Freeway History and construction as I am, you will consider this the "motherlode." Enjoy !!

That’s a good one too.  Too bad I already did a bunch of the Arizona Freeways already, I guess that I could always add some of this stuff.

What's interesting about the 1993 photo is that it appears 32nd Street used to be the main road leading through the draw before it turned into Northern Avenue. I always figured that was the case. Now, 32nd Street has most of its lanes funneled onto the SR-51  on-ramp, with a slip lane still there to access the neighborhoods before it basically peters out into nothing.

Right - this 1971 Phoenix map also confirms it.
