Give tolbs a break.  NC has money to slap Interstate signs all over the place, so they probably slap up extra stop signs too. He can't help it if he's from a slap-happy place.

Though ironically, when looking for examples to use in my parody thread, I found out that NC have a lack of side mounted redundant signals (which is important for a good signal installation imo), even for intersections where the main overhead signals are pretty far away from the stop line.
