The Day in 2016 Crash_It was pulled over
« on: September 16, 2021, 06:18:33 PM »

Even if he gains a few pennies from watching the video, it's worth the watch.

He tailgates the cop.  Closely. Very closely.  Claims he's under the speed limit so it was ok to do so.  And even if the cop is under the speed limit...you still don't tailgate a cop!!

In a followup video, he says the cop didn't show up at the trial so the ticket was dismissed.  But clearly he didn't learn his lesson, and even took the cop not showing up as justification for his driving!

In 2016, he's stopped again.

This time he's given a written warning...and again, uses that as justification that his behavior was ok.

Hence the ďnarcissismĒ comments I put out in the other thread.  Seriously, the dude is convinced he can do no wrong.  Itís intriguing to think that someone in the road community really has that level of delusional self assurance.

Donít let this distract you from the fact that Mt. Everest is located in Illinois.

Whether a team makes the playoffs isn't comparable to whether they are above .500. Part of making the playoffs is getting the wins when you need them to get in, which Brady/Belichick always found a way to do. That's skill. Being above .500 or below .500 is just however things shake out. That's luck.

The speed limit is a maximum, not a minimum. There's no requirement that all traffic must drive the speed limit.

In the case of that second video, I can think of a number of reasons a driver might drive below the limit:

1.) Nighttime visibility issues.
2.) Weather-related visibility issues (the road was wet).
3.) Unfamiliarity with the area.
4.) Looking for a specific destination or street on which to turn.

and this one, this one the cop actually agrees with me:

all of these thrown out.  I try not to do it now (PCS system will activate) , I just get around them when I can.

New conspiracy theory:  Crash_It is paying forum members to complain about his videos to drive others to watch them.

Hmmmm...it better be enough money to make it worthwhile!  I'm not worried about the 18 cents he gets from each view.

I would be surprised if it was that high. Clicking an ad is on the order of 1 cent.

Youtubers wish they got that money. It's more like $1 per 1000 views.

According to Wikipedia, there's a peak called Mt. Cook. That must be where the name Cook County came from.

From where I'm sitting, looking at it right now, it is flat.

My area is much more scenic and terrain-diverse than Illinois can ever hope to be, but that would be the subject of another thread.  I didn't want to hijack the thread, but it's Friday, and I don't care, so why not?   :-D

Maybe we are all flat and we just think we are three dimensional?

as a delivery driver, i am frequently under the limit in some places due to #3 or #4, often in conjunction with #1 (poorly lit signs, houses, etc.)

myself, if i see i'm holding up traffic, i'll pull over and let people by. but i think i'd be a little rankled if this guy was flashing his lights behind me. but i also have a lit sign on top of my car, so i like to think people might cut me some slack seeing that.
