Does your state attach traffic signals to the bridge?

Texas won't do it even when it would make perfect sense to do so.

Our state is the same way... And I don't know what the advantages of attaching signals to the bridge are besides wind.

I don't think Ontario does this.

- This SPUI in Ottawa has the signals on separate poles (though there are sensors mounted on the overpass).
- Under the Gardiner in Toronto, the signals are on separate poles.
- Even this low railway overpass in Cambridge has the signals on separate poles.

The first example seems too far away from the intersection to be used.  It is like 300 ft away.  Perhaps a flashing warning sign of the upcoming red signal would be better.

The second example is OK.

I wonder if the intersection signals would be more visible here if they were aligned horizontally.

Alabama had one example I can think of off the top of my head.  Before the I-59/20 viaduct was replaced, it had a left exit and entrance to 21st and 22nd Street.  These intersection featured traffic lights attached to the viaduct.  When the viaduct was replaced, this interchange was removed.

Rare find, seems like North Carolina did it back in the early days when SPUI interchanges were introduced. This was done around 1994-1996.

Pennsylvania has also done it occasionally.  This one is at the southern end of the Liberty Tunnel in Pittsburgh.  Note the signals for the intersecting ramp have green arrows and red balls illuminated simultaneously (not permitted anymore) despite newer looking signal heads.

Also off topic for this thread, but I'm intrigued by the use of blank-out "do not enter" signs (with red beacons) above regular "do not enter" signs for the ramp opposite to this view. Why would the blank-outs be necessary? Going up the ramp in Street View, there's a similar situation with "wrong way" signage. Is there ever a situation where those blank-out signs would turn off?
