Check out these signal plans!
« on: December 17, 2021, 06:20:47 PM »

This is a really neat new signal that is being installed now in Cambridge MA. https://www.cambridgema.gov/-/media/Files/publicworksdepartment/Engineering/cityprojects/inmansquare/inmansq_ifb_compiledplans.pdf (page 80/81 for plans).

Just figured I'd share!

Twitter photo links as well -

This signal includes 8" and 4" bicycle signals, with all sorts of unique phasing. A transit signal has been planned, and a right turn FYA doghouse. The timing is quite unique as well. One thing I was confused by was the specification for a cowbell tone for the audible pedestrian signal. Guess I'll see what happens when they're activated !

Very unique...

It would be nice if they went from Red to Red-Yellow and then to Green.

We have signals proposed at the US-13/US-264 ALT and Frog level intersection, but it would most likely be a normal design rather than that unique design you listed above.

Plans look like they will be using bike boxes and two stage bike turn boxes as well. Love seeing those!
