I just finished doing the updates to my pages for the first six months of the year. Here's the link to the changes page; I'm not going to post it here:

https://www.cahighways.org/changes.html

However, I am going to urge you to go to that page, read it, and then explore some specific links and things in particular. Here's some specific things to focus upon, in the way of highlights:

  • A discussion about the preliminary plan to remodel my pages.
  • A significant update to the Route 710 page, giving much more history and chronology.
  • Significant review of upcoming legislation. There is much there of interest, so go read that page.
  • Inclusion of links to the specifics of the main funding programs in California: the STIP, the SHOPP, and the list of SB1 projects. Go follow those links, and read those lists. If you really want to learn what the state is planning to do, that's the place to start. There's loads of stuff to wait through: Over 85 pages of STIP, over 400 pages of SHOPP, and I'd estimate 200 pages of SB1 stuff. I know. I went through all of it to update my pages.

As always: Ready, set, discuss.

Speaking of updates I'm sure that it's apparent by now given my recent Surewhynotnow blog and Gribblenation Facebook posts that I've made it finally to my photo catelogs for 2016.  2016 in general was a massive year in regards to checking off a ton of the bucket-list road related items. That being the case in regards to California I'll stuff coming up in the next couple months like; the rest of the passes in Sierras, a lot unbuilt state highways, a couple more segments of the US 466 Legacy series and just notable stuff like CA 299 that I wanted to do.  I briefed over the list of my blogs and I think that everything got captured on the recent update on CAhighways.

That being the case it will be easier to keep you updated on what blogs are new at month-end.  I should have something for Routes 132, 26 and J16 this week barring unforeseen circumstances.  Short term I'm also looking at the western segment of 190, 202 and former alignments of US 466 near Tehachapi.

Edit:   While I was looking I noticed there was a couple posts from a few months ago that slipped through the cracks.  I'll add them on a recap at month end.

Been perusing your site as I've been converting older html pages for California on the site to the new CMS.

A couple of minor corrections:

https://www.cahighways.org/137-144.html#141
QuoteThis route approximates the current Cuesta Parkway and Mare Island Parkway

This should be Curtola Parkway.

And in a related update for I-780 might as note that the Laurel Street Bridge replacement was completed:
http://www.dot.ca.gov/d4/newsreleases/i780-laurel-st-bridge-in-vallejo-tentative-opening-1-12-18.pdf

QuoteThe new Laurel Street Bridge, which will meet the latest seismic safety standards, could be completed as early as late December 2017.

https://www.cahighways.org/009-016.html#015

QuoteNorco: Hammer Avenue (some portions are former Route 31)

The business route for I-15 in Norco should be Hamner Avenue.

Also I see that you have two business routes listed here, Norco and Escondido. Do you have the ones at Lake Elsinore and Barstow referenced elsewhere? Also, was there ever a business route in Baker? Andy has some references to an unsigned route there, but no documentation cited as to when it may have been posted (or if).

I have a number of new url's and will post those to the AARoads Update thread.

I'll see if I can get these updates in before the next round (which is likely Labor Day-ish). I may just edit them into the June pages. Thanks for the corrections. By the way, if you look at the 710 page, you'll find I've added a lot of history and probably now have the most complete chronology on the gap.

Just looked at the 280 page and saw the 2017 update (which I hadn't seen before) regarding proposed HOV lanes for the 280 extension segment (between US 101 and the Giants' ballpark), which is interesting in light of the fact that the late Mayor Lee's proposal to remove the freeway north of 16th was still active until the April 2018 decision to have the CalTrain/high speed rail pathway routed along Pennyslvania Avenue.

(I posted about the city's change of heart re: 280 in another thread - https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=8459.0 -  yesterday.  Found out about it doing unrelated research on CalTrain projects)

The updates for the below have been fixed and uploaded. There were actually two %BUSINESS sections for I-15, which is why you asked your question -- I combined them into one. I also got all the AARoads links updates in your latest post (hopefully).

I think I recall noting that as I did Route 44 on my "Map Project". As I noted in another post, I'm in the process of adding maps -- based on the Postmile tool -- to all the routes so users can get a sense of where the route it. This is also part of the process of "postmileing" all the entries: making sure there are postmiles for the status updates and naming items, and that things are in postmile order. I just finished (and have uploaded) the routes through and including Route 65; 66 is where I'll start tonight. I'll try to remember to double check 44 when I get home.

Hey just wanted to say much thanks and good work for all the map updates so far!  Really huge visual aid for the site and has added a ton more enjoyment in reading through the route definitions and all. (and a great primer to those roadgeeks on here who are not as familiar with route definitions and relinquishments out here)

Quick update I forgot to mention: The Route 92/Route 82 interchange project in San Mateo was completed in early 2018, after several months in 2017 of realigning or removing the old ramps from the original cloverleaf.

Thanks. I'll catch your update the next time I do updates. In terms of the map project, I uploaded through Route 134 last night (although I plan to go back and postmile Route 134 when I get home tonight). Next up: Route 135 in Santa Maria!

By the way, Chris, I find that on certain routes, I'm missing the maps on your old "Freeways of San Francisco" site. Yes, it is remembered. I had to do some research in those areas as I hit old 117, old routings of 80, 280, 101 and 82, and 87 and such. Should be fun when I hit 230, 280 and 480.

I don't think I even have any of those map scans anymore, as the external hard drive that had much of my pre-2010 data broke long ago.

I actually don't remember having any map regarding Route 117 on my site though interestingly enough.

I came across this article:
https://www.gjel.com/blog/the-10-most-dangerous-roadways-in-california.html

And I am getting ready to move to California. So, based on this article what advice is there for a new resident getting ready to commute around Cali?

Is there anything that you would add here?
:hmmm:

I was surprised to see Mineral King Road and the Merced River Canyon section of 49 get a reference.  It would have been nice if they actually include statistics.
