When any Texas-based business expands outside of Texas usually Oklahoma is one of the first places they build. In the case of Buc-ee's, when they started building new locations outside of Texas it has been anywhere but Oklahoma.

There are now four locations in Alabama, at least two in Florida, two in Georgia, two in Tennessee, one in South Carolina and one in Kentucky (another KY project was recently cancelled). As I said before, their first locations in Colorado and Missouri are in the final stages of construction. Buc-ee's has proposed a North Carolina location in MeBane off I-40/85. They also have a location proposed in Dayton, Ohio near the I-70/OH-235 interchange. That's 16 locations in 9 states outside of Texas. That's a bit much for Oklahoma to be left out "accidentally."

Buc-ee's is also building some new locations in Texas. Construction is starting on a new world's largest convenience store in Luling, TX. That one will replace an existing Buc-ee's location which was an early version of their super store concept. They're also finally going forward with an Amarillo location. When all that work is finished there will be at least four Buc-ee's locations along I-40 -but none in Oklahoma.

I know Buc-ee's is picky about the locations where it chooses to build. The outer fringes of the OKC metro have a lot of open spots along I-35 or I-40 where a Buc-ee's location would do very well. It really seems weird to me they would build a location off I-44 in Springfield, MO before building anything in Oklahoma on the outskirts of the Tulsa or OKC metros.

The one in Clarksville (off on I-24 exit 1) got canceled... Smith Grove, KY is currently under construction off on I-65.

I wasn’t sure how busy it was. Thanks for the history on it Max. Any chance it gets extended? When I was on it it seemed so short and no traffic since it 2am so that’s why I asked I wants t sure. Lake Isabella is such a cool area I can’t believe I just found out about.

This country only likes the top tier of teams, unfortunately.
Not accurate. Our college and even high school sports scenes are far beyond what you’ll find in any other country.
High school in some areas. College, again, only the top tier. There's no promo/releg, but the fan bases for even the Group of Five are quite smaller than the Power Five, let alone FCS vs. FBS, let alone...
College teams, no matter the conference, are not the “top tier” of teams. Pro teams are.

Also, the size of the fanbases for smaller schools relative to those of bigger schools is not dissimilar to the relative size of fanbases for lower-division teams in promotion/relegation systems in other countries.
I'm making the point there is no promotion/relegation system here.

Haven’t read any MMM-level outlandish takes from this guy (yet)

The idea of someone keeping a "Learn How To Drive" sign in their car seems pretty damn outlandish to me. (Anyone who attempted to use such a thing in Oklahoma or Texas would probably end up with a bullet hole in it.)

I very rarely see “JUNCTION” written out anywhere.

Will congestion pricing be all of Manhattan south of 60th street? Down to battery park? Or is there a southern limit too? I read online the FDR and West Side Parkway will be exempt, but how will this affect entering those roads? I'm from Brooklyn, so if I cross the Brooklyn Bridge and immediately get on the FDR entrance ramp, will there be cameras immediately after the bridge? In that case you'd still get hit with the toll even for the FDR.

Yes, if you cross the Brooklyn Bridge you will get hit with the congestion fee, even if you use the FDR ramps.

The way things are planned out, you will not be hit with the congestion fee if you enter the West Side Highway or FDR Drive north of 60 St and then exit to the Battery Tunnel, or vice versa (you will, of course, still get hit with the Battery Tunnel toll). Any other entrance or exit will get you hit with the fee.

Yes, this does mean it will become impossible to get to Brooklyn/Queens/Long Island from the mainland by car without paying a toll. Though, as described above, one specific toll-free route to the mainland from Brooklyn/Queens/Long Island will remain.

I think it's complete bullshit that Queensboro Bridge isn't maintained as a free route. But that way the MTA makes more money off you using another of their bridges.

Email them and ask them. There maybe a reason no one is aware of.

I’m joining the list of people to fork the Denver Broncos. I’m also forking the New York Jets.
