Although it does seem a bit parkway-esque, something about it also seemed like the South, so while I hadn't decided on a guess yet, southern Virginia definitely makes sense.

Hmm, that's actually a good question. I-190 is six lanes from the Thruway to the Peace Bridge and primarily four lanes (with occasional auxiliary lanes) north of there. I don't think there's eight through lanes at any point.

But in any case, it's not I-190. Getting close though.

The way these challenges go, the person who guesses correctly does the next challenge. You posted 15 minutes after plain made their guess, and it hasn't been confirmed as correct yet (although since they've got a GSV link, they're almost surely right). Give plain a chance to be confirmed as right and post their challenge before trying to cut. If it goes a few days without plain posting something to guess, then you can go.

I-490 is like the wanna-be version of this (or is this the wanna-be version of I-490? IDK  ). The western half of I-490 actually looks kind of similar (example), but suburban growth never materialized, so it only has four lanes despite ROW for eight or more.

You are, of course, correct. Image taken from slightly further back, approximately here. I figured no one would expect I-990 to be this wide!  What exists of it is a really nice road, just too bad it was never extended to Lockport.
