Is the I-95 Gold Rock interchange yet done?

This old article says this past April it was to be completed.

GSV doesn't have the latest but Googlemaps shows it almost complete.

It was not open as of last week. The C/D roads on I-95 are still being worked on.

This is not the Gold Rock interchange. Exit 145 appeared to be fully open when I drove by yesterday.

Ah, I saw "Sunset Ave" in the article URL and my mind went to that interchange, just south of US-64.

Having driven NC-12 up to Corolla many times, that cost is unjustified. The road more or less serves a number of expensive beach homes, including vacation residences of Tom Cruise and Bruce Willis.

That is the main beach for Virginians, Pennsylvanians,New Yorkers, etc. They outnumber NC residents going to OBX. Wouldn't they be the target user for the toll bridge to access all of the outer banks from Corolla to Hatteras? It seems like it would be beneficial. They come and spend a lot each year so make it easy for them. Keep that revenue flowing into NC.

So the roundabouts are completed and I take Halifax Road is been realigned to connect to Exit 145 with the original overpass either removed or at least closed.

In other words this overpass gone or about to be.

I found an ancient gas station in lumber ton nc. 645 e 16yh street is the address that gives the best view. I was wondering if it was still open as the canopies look weathered but all the hosing looks relatively new thanks Daniel

Does anyone known the planned Completion Date for the NC 46 & US 158 Widening/Garysburg ByPass just North of Roanoke Rapids?

So, I was looking at the newly posted NCDot bidding list for the next 12 months and saw that it appears the I-85 widening has been broken into smaller contract:  Previously it was one whole project from NC 273 to US 321, this project has ballooned to over 1.1 Billion Dollars.  So today, I now see a 310 Million dollar project to widen from NC 273 to what looks to be the Lowell/Mcadenville exit, and a separate contract to reconstruct multiple railroad overcrossings on the mainline.

The post you replied to is from 2009, and that project has stalled due to lawsuits, though NCDOT has won most of them. The bridge also has added benefit in that it provides an additional hurricane evacuation route for Carova Beach, Corolla, Duck, and northern Southern Shores. Right now, anyone in Corolla would need to drive about 20 miles on a congested 2-lane road to get to the nearest bridge leaving the OBX in the event of an evacuation.

This photo is from December 21. It's located just before the Johnston- Wake County Line. I'm taking this is the current permanent US 70 East ramp from I-40 West that was not yet open in December 2021?

Also what was the nature of that center ramp at Garner Road near the US 70/70 Business interchange that was there in 2021.

The Nature of the Center Ramp was usage by the Construction Crew so that they would not have to merge into heavy traffic on I-40 in either direction.

This sign assembly lacking all Route shields along Saunders into Downtown due to the state DOT being cheap and lazy to replace the guide sign after both NC 50 and US 70 were put back onto the city streets from the Beltline doesn't represent all the former alignments not being here.

For example, to my knowledge, I don't recall US 401 ever to bypass Downtown and was always on Saunders and Capital Blvd. So shouldn't US 401 NB be at least signed?

My guess would be that they're trying to encourage people to use the Beltline instead of going through downtown.

From 1984-1991, US 70/US 401/NC 50 were completely was rerouted onto the beltway going north around Raleigh; though US 70/NC 50 were partially on the beltway in the 1970s. So originally the Saunders sign was correct for a time and was never corrected.

I also think I remember that I-440 was added to the state's interstate system in 1995. I remember driving US 1 through Raleigh in 94 and didn't see signs for it, but one year later I began seeing signs for it.  In fact in 1994, the Beltline was not up to interstate standards and when US 1 got co-signed with the new I-440 I remember a massive road widening taking place from Wade Avenue to Capital Blvd unlike its previous 1956 expressway grade with 3 feet shoulders and concrete surfaces.

I also see now on Street View NCDOT is finally rehabilitating the part from I-40 to Wade Avenue as well adding sound walls.  So they made an exception to sign it as interstate unlike I-87 where they are waiting for full width shoulders before they bed in shielding it.

I-440 appeared one morning in 1991. I was a senior at NC State.

As far as those S Saunders signs on I-40 being incorrect, they are newish signs from the Fortify rebuild project. Not old at all. You are saying they erected new signs that are incorrect or that NC50 and the other route changed in the last 5-10 years.

NC's high standards for overhead signage are really slipping. They are reducing the size of the signs so much that the words barely fit now.

I'm emailing everyone in that NCDOT dept. to remind them of excellent signage that once was.

I never though I'd say this, but Georgia's overheads now look better than NC's. They are all using a big, thick font that's uniform on all overheads. Make me proud to be back in the nexus of the Southeast, Atlanta.

Like the way NCDOT just covers the former Business header for US 17 Southbound rather than replace the panel.  For real it's a great solution and minimal tax revenue to be used.

This week's NCDOT news update gave us a better understanding of the extent of damage to western NC roads, with 450 bridges needing repaired or replaced. That is mind blowing.
