OK, so if anyone on this forum has been on the exit for Bandera Rd on I-410 in San Antonio you know that it's very long and awkward. It almost feels like an HOV lane. I has a HORRIBLE quality video of part of it, and of course a Google Maps link.

There was once some plans to upgrade that part of Bandera road into a freeway in the past http://www.texashighwayman.com/faq.shtml but those ramps aren't related to any freeway or even tollway project.

Those connectors are recent construction--in fact I have the construction plans for them.

Ooh, how did you get them? And i remember a few years back I was in San Antonio, and I stayed right off 410 a few miles away from that heavy construction, but every time we wanted to go downtown, we had to go through the construction traffic. But it would be very interesting to see the construction plans. That was a huge project. And I think they look awesome, but it's a little weird how long they are.

True, there were plans to build a toll road on the Bandera Road corridor, but the Alamo RMA canceled those plans:

I just downloaded the construction plans when they were advertised.  I think the CCSJ for this job was 0521-04-190, but I will check.  I know I have them on disk somewhere but I am travelling and away from my disks at the moment--when I get back, I'll just dig them up, upload them to a file-sharing site, and circulate the URL.

That kind of reminds me of the North Sam Houston Tollway ramps to I-45 North northbound. They seem to go on forever. Sure, your example is a little more screwy since it's just one lane, but it doesn't seem to be too abnormal.
