What do you mean? Zero teams do that. That doesn't sell concessions and team merch shit doing that. Unless you mean the teams that won't let you go back to your seat while a hitter is in an ongoing at-bat, which doesn't bother me.

Are you mixing it up with hockey, where ushers hold people back from blocking aisles during play?

Honestly all sports need that. Having an aisle seat and constantly having your view blocked by people moving around in the middle of an exciting build-up is infuriating.

You can get out of your seat anytime during a game.

Going back to your seat - usually in my experiences, they will wait until the batter completes their at-bat, there's a stoppage in play, or the play has occurred, depending on the sport.

I paid for my seat, i should be able to leave and go back to it as I please.

Little early for a first baseball game, but Spring Training is right around the corner.

And the other people in your row paid for their seats, and they should be free to watch the action without you moving in front of them.

Back to the topic of annoying things that bother me - sports addition.

People that buy tickets to an event then leave and come back to their seat so often, I wonder why they bothered going to a game. Or why they bought tickets in the middle of a row.

Ditto for me. I sometimes see people come and go 5-6 times during a game.

I'd love for there to be a section of the stadium that allows you to return to your seat only at extended time outs. Advertise it as such.

Thought I'd share this sports-related annoyance:

Once upon a time, long time ago, I worked at a radio station part-time on the weekends.  Normally, I got to play music and talk to the audience.

I was never happy when college football season came around.  We aired all the Notre Dame football games, which cut into my live music-playing shifts.  When the games were on, I just "babysat the board" which only consisted of playing the local commercials or station ID's during certain breaks.

At this particular time in Notre Dame history, they had one or two star athletes, whom they would gush over throughout the game.

However, once the game was over, instead of doing a short recap/wrap up like most sports broadcasts do, they had a tendency to spend another 30-60 minutes after the game swooning over the game and the players.  This meant less time for me to do what I was originally hired to do.

Needless to say, once those "greatest things since sliced bread" players graduated, you never heard about them again in the pros.

Nowadays, it doesn't matter as much as automation pretty much runs the board, and when the broadcast finally ends, everything is automated and voice tracked at most of these stations.

I was so glad that Notre Dame missed the Bowl Games and playoffs when I worked there.  But those were the longest Saturdays to work!

Absolutely. Far more than just a kernal of truth to that comment. Especially people who stay in their seats during a stoppage in play and then want to stand up to go to the toilet or the concession stand as soon as play resumes.

If the person in question has a small child at the game, I can somewhat understand. Little kids are prone to ignoring the need to go until they can't hold it anymore. But anyone older than about six years old is old enough to understand, and OBEY, the instruction, "When the puck is in play, make sure you stay out of the way."
"You know, you never have a guaranteed spot until you have a spot guaranteed."
—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.

Doesn't bother me per se since it's their own money and not mine, but I don't understand people who spend a lot of money for tickets just to then also spend half the game trying to figure out the best time to leave. At Packers/Vikings yesterday, the group next to me took off for good early in the 4th quarter (and their team was winning). I'm happy to have the open space next to me, but I wish I had money I could seemingly light on fire like that.

If they are season ticket holders, and they've been to every home game this year, and it's this late in the season they've already gotten their return on investment.
