435 has them Eastbound at Metcalf and in both directions at Nall, Roe, and State Line since late 2009. There's also one on 69 Northbound at 135th that was activated Last August.

They started looking at I-35 soon after the US 69 meter was activated.

I've seen a few projects come back for a second letting. I cannot tell if the project was pulled from the monthly letting and delayed to a later date, or if the bid(s) were rejected the first time around

I see repeat advertisements so rarely I cannot, off the top of my head, think of a single example.  I would think that if a project were yanked from the letting, it would still appear in the letting list but with links to documents removed and a note (probably in red lettering) to the effect it had been withdrawn.

I automated download of KDOT projects beginning in April 2012, so I have weekly snapshots of the project download page covering most of the last four years.  I searched them just now for {withdrawn} and {removed} (using findstr in case-insensitive mode) and the only instances I found were of the latter and only in HTML comments.

Also, I have been downloading KDOT projects since about a month after they finally started uploading plans to the Web (in March 2008; either Kansas or Oklahoma was the last frontier-tier state to begin doing so, since Texas started in 2001, Nebraska started in 2002, South Dakota started in 2005, and North Dakota started in 2007), and I cannot think of a single example of a KDOT project with a nonstandard advertising period, although several have been of sizes that in other states would have justified a longer lead time between advertisement and letting.

The August bid awards have come out - None of the "major" projects (i.e., those with plan sheets) had their bids awarded. Three major projects from July were approved, leaving one major July project un-awarded.

I have been suspicious for some time that KDOT has been deliberately dragging its feet (or not aggressively enforcing prosecution-and-progress provisions in the relevant contracts) on some projects in order to ease the state's cashflow problems.  Here are a couple of examples I have stubbed my toe on.

*  KDOT let multiple east-of-Augusta passing lane contracts for US 400 in the spring of 2015.  I deliberately scheduled discretionary travel away from that corridor for the summer and autumn of 2015, expecting it to be a long succession of workzones.  Imagine my dismay when I took US 400 on a trip to St. Louis in late April of this year and discovered rough grading barely begun on some of the involved lengths in Greenwood County.  Meanwhile, a length of fresh passing lane was available just east of the K-99 dogleg overlap near Severy.

*  The OP for this thread, which started with the April 2015 letting, featured the major guide sign replacement for I-235, I-135, and K-96 in Sedgwick County.  It is only in the last month that I have finally begun seeing new ground-mounted signs starting to appear.

The counterargument to this theory is that most of these are small-beer contracts (the US 400 passing lane jobs are about $3 million each, while the major guide sign replacement is around $1 million), whereas the month-to-month revenue shortfalls have been around a few dozen million each.  If you have a three-alarm fire, you do not reach for a flower watering can first thing.  But it perplexes me that there has been so little activity, especially on the passing lane contracts.  It is not even as if waiting has brought more favorable weather conditions--2015 was drier than 2016 has so far proven to be.

Nope.  Two.  Calendar completion date of November 16, 2018 (page 132 of 134 in the proposal PDF).

There appears to have been a late addition to the letting:

35-106 KA-4110-02:  I-35 guide sign replacement in Coffey, Osage, Franklin, and Miami Counties.

I count 38 sign panel detail sheets.  The project includes replacement of mileage signs, which have inconsistent distances to Wichita, since the implied distance between Emporia and Wichita on these signs fluctuates from 80 to 87 miles.

It looks as if the plan sheets were uploaded late. There's also a similar project for I-70 (70-106 KA-4111-01) that currently does not have plan sheets link.

Looks like KDOT's trying to standardize placing the advance guide signs for rural interchanges at 3/4 mile and 1 1/4 miles. There's a couple of locations where ramps are short-spaced and they had to settle for 1/2 mile and 1 mile.

I'm surprised they decided to leave the name for exit 176 as "Homewood" instead of "Idaho Road." They're also leaving Exit 170 (former K-273) unchanged, aside from removing the green space where the K-273 shield was originally placed.

Also, one advance guide sign for exit 202 (Sunflower Road in Johnson County) is part of this project and indicates that the exit name is being changed from "Edgerton," in part because Edgerton also has the Homestead Lane interchange.

I am headed up to Kansas City for Thanksgiving weekend and on the return journey, I'm going to try to check how many of the mileage signs reference Wichita.  My recollection is that most of them are two-line with Emporia as the bottom-line destination, but in this project they seem to be trying to standardize on three-line signs with Emporia and Wichita (next two control cities) on the bottom two lines.

I recall that the I-70 KCK guide sign replacement in 2008 (or thereabouts) was also a late upload.

Sheet 130 shows a sign with code KR16-1 with the same general format as a speed limit sign but no apparent legend other than a large black rectangle.  I wonder if this is KDOT's implementation of speed feedback signs.

A check with the other sheets indicate the black rectangle is supposed to contain the international "fasten seat belt" symbol.
