Massachusetts Turnpike Questions

Hey All!

I have some questions I have on the Mass Pike.

1) I hear they are removing the toll booths except at the I-84 exit, the NY/MA state line, and any west of I-95/MA 128. Does this mean they are going to remove any of the Turnpike signs with the pilgrim hat on them?

2) This requards back to the old old Mass Pike logo with the pilgrim hat with the arrow running through the middle. Does anyone know if there are any left in exsistance in the wild? If so, I'd like to go find it and take a shot of it.

Thanks!

To answer number 2, I think there are some still around, most likely on old BGS's.  There might be a couple on the shield assemblies, but I don't know exactly.
NJ Roads FTW!

No, none left with the arrow in the hat.  Last one in Springfield is gone.

Far from decided that's what's going to happen.  Patrick wants to but it's not signed yet.  I would think because Masspike runs the whole thing that you'd still see your pilgrim hats.  The little green trailblazers will continue to exist wherever they do, as no one ever gets around to taking them down.

would be nice to randomly find one.  I did find that 18" wood I-495 a few years back after they were all thought to be gone!

Mass. Turnpike Authority is threatening a 60% toll hike to make up deficit caused by paying for untolled "Big Dig" segments.

The 495?  I can give exact directions to anyone interested.  If you're going to Massachusetts, which I doubt, then I'll tell you...

The Governor blinked.  The state sales tax in MA will go up from 5% to 6.25% and the MassPike will rescind its $100 million/year toll hike that was scheduled to go into effect on July 1st.

But a restraining order could lead to some road closures on the toll money being used for the Big Dig lawsuit  http://wbztv.com/local/mass.pike.hearing.2.1117078.html

Okay, so you can't pay off the huge debt of constructing the highway. So is closing it like the contractor reposessing it, then or something?  :pan:

Sounds like an attention-grabbing idle threat to me. The courts will just issue another restraining order making them keep the highway open. :spin:
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.
