I-55

My guess would be no, I-65's problems occur where the current 8-lane portion ends at I-840. It's been well discussed that I-65 should be widened to 6-lane at least to TN-396 and potentially US-412. TDOT did recently complete a bridge replacement and interchange modification at Exit 46 (US-412) in which the bridge was widened to accommodate a future third lane in each direction.

That's the most significant, but there are other issues that need to be addressed as well. The SR 441/Moores Lane interchange needs to be redone as the outdated loop ramp design is causing slowdowns/backups just north of that point. The SR 96 interchange needs to be addressed as well as the configuration is causing traffic flow issues right by the Williamson Medical Center. I'm surprised there is not a bigger push for either of those.

Then of course, the whole of the downtown interstate loop is in need of a rebuild.

This is a semi-decent report from WKRN News 2 that gives some more clarification about how the Choice Lanes will work, mostly aimed at locals who are not familiar with modern HOT lane facilities.

I take it is going to be a while before the "Choice Lanes" are actually constructed.

Yeah they're still in the design phase.  But the locals want something done about it yesterday.

I agree, toll lanes are a life saver and will be in NashVegas. With all the beach/tourist traffic, this should have been done a decade ago! People from out of town hate driving through both NashVegas and Chatt-Lanta because the traffic can add a hour+ to a road trip! So I cant imagine what its like for the locals. Nashville is seriously trying to emulate Atlanta when it comes to being reactive instead of proactive when it comes to sprawl and traffic issues

I would hope that TDOT would not toll the widening south of I-840, and, if it is a choice lane situation, then it is a 2x2x2x2 configuration. As for the rest of the corridor, IMO choice lanes are not needed north of I-840, but instead interchange improvements.

Says they could be under construction by 2026:

QuoteThe state also is embarking on its first public-private "toll" lane project, planning to take bids in 2025 and start work in 2026 on an elevated highway from Nashville to Interstate 840 near Murfreesboro.

The Ghostbuster

Will the proposed elevated toll lanes look like the elevated toll lanes on Interstate 110 in Los Angeles, or the elevated toll lanes on FL 618 in Tampa?

I'd love to see a cost estimate for the choice lanes along I-24. Easily in the high millions or in the billions if I had to guess.
