The Springfield, Illinois meet will be on June 28.  The people have spoken.
"If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention." - Ramsay Bolton, "Game of Thrones"

"Symbolic of his struggle against reality." - Reg, "Monty Python's Life of Brian"

Quote from: Laura on December 31, 2024, 09:15:41 AMValerie, when in August were you thinking of having your meet? The best dates for me right now are Saturday, July 19th or 26th, but if you're thinking early August then I'll consider doing it earlier or later in the summer.
August is fairly open for me right now as far as I know; I was planning on scheduling after I got a firmer idea of when the family picnic will be (almost always July, but early August has happened), perhaps with a poll.  Right now I would consider August 9 or August 16 to be the most likely dates.

As of right now, August 9 is the date I'm looking at.  Once I know when the family picnic is going to be, I'll make a final pick and formal announcement.  But since the family picnic is almost always in July, I don't expect the date to change.

Please keep me posted for the specific venue. I'm interested. :) What is your role at NYSDOT?

I'll be posting a separate thread for updates once I'm ready to definitively announce the date (right now I'm 99% sure on August 9 and ~80% sure lunch will be at the 99 off exit 3; the only reason it's not formally announced now is because I don't want to commit to something and then get surprised with the family picnic being around then) which will contain everything and which will be updated if there are any changes/additions.

I work for Region 1 in the Planning and Program Management group.  Like a lot of regional people, I do enough varied things that it's hard to summarize.

I'm a project manager but some of my best friends are program managers and planners. Good for you!

Quote from: Laura on February 13, 2025, 07:39:49 PMOkay I'm making it official - Saturday, July 26th is Quad State II: Electric Boogaloo!

Cool!  I'm sorry I missed last year due to a lack of vacation time.  So, I'll be there this year.

The Lake of the Ozarks meet has been set on 9/13. You will have to join Road Meets to see it.

The Feather River Canyon (Oroville/Quincy, CA) meet will be on October 4. This meet will focus on the CA 70 (former US 40A) corridor, as well as its predecessor road to the south that linked Oroville to Quincy by crossing the mountains. CA 70 through the canyon is one of the best places in the country for road and rail scenery and engineering marvels, so it should be a good one for the people who like bridges, tunnels, and trains along with their roads. And did I mention that fun roads will be involved?

Current stops I have in my head are downtown Oroville and its bypassed truss bridge, the West Branch bridge just north of Cherokee, the Pulga Bridges, the Tobin Bridges, Belden Town, the Keddie Wye, Quincy (mid-tour lunch), and the new Bidwell Bar Bridge. I may try and see if I can plea to get us to the Old Bidwell Bar Bridge sans-toll, or we could always chip in a couple of bucks each to get into the park. I assure you, the first steel suspension bridge on the west coast is worth the price of admission if we can split the cost a few ways.
