Peter Tork (https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/obituaries/peter-tork-endearingly-offbeat-bassist-and-singer-in-the-monkees-dies-at-77/2019/02/21/479cf4ae-35ee-11e9-854a-7a14d7fec96a_story.html?utm_term=.97be37601809) an original member of the 1960's rock group the Monkees has died. I remember watching their show every Saturday.

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees!  Amazing to think what began as a TV show turned into a popular band with many memorable hits.  It was fun to watch back in the day!

Spring cleaning today I found their "Headquarters" CD album. RIP Peter. Also found most of my Beatles & Stones albums.

Rest in peace. I love The Monkees' music, and we have lost another talented soul from the 1960's.

You know he actually did some front vocals for the group.  In Shades of Grey he sings lead on the second first. Usually he did backing vocals, but in that song he did (well somewhat) a lead.

I never understood, though, why Mike Nesmith, even as a lead on some songs, never joined in backing with Peter, or Davy or even Micky.   Another question, but back to topic yes its a shame another 60's musician passed on.

I don't think Nesmith wanted to be remembered as a Monkee - he never joined them on their reunion tours.

I think he eventually did join the remaining two for a 50th anniversary tour, though needless to say Davy Jones was gone by then.
