Title: ...and another NJ Roadgeek
Post by: MaddogMicharski on November 21, 2020, 10:56:45 PM
Hi my name is Alex. I'm a student at Rowan University and I have been a Roadgeek since I was 3 years old. I was born and raised in Mercer County NJ. When I was a toddler, I had anxiety when I was in the car because I never knew how long I would be in the car. I decided to cope with this by memorizing all of the roads around me. Up to when I was 5-9 years old, my grandfather had a bunch of paper maps of my local town and I would often draw roads that should be built in certain areas. When I was 17, I got my license and since then I have been driving around like crazy and my Roadgeekness got kicked into full swing ever since. My favorite thing to do is to propose new highways and land developments, as well as propose plans to make roads safer.

Greetings from Southwest Missouri!

As another teenage roadgeek, I got my license about five months ago, and I would say I can pursue this hobby to a greater degree.

Greetings from So Cal.

I've driven through Jersey a few times.  Once I stopped at the welcome center (somewhere near Camden) and asked what there was to see out around Bridgeton.  Their response: "There's nothing but pine barrens!".  They are probably used to tourists looking for Atlantic City or Cape May, not roadgeeks...

That Welcome Center had to be on 295 in Deepwater, NJ, just off the Delaware Memorial Bridge.  It's the only one in South Jersey and only 1 of 2 on (free) Interstates in NJ, the other being on I-80.

Knowing the guys that work there, you're probably being kind in your assessment.  :-)
