I drove the Gandy Bridge and US 92 East out St. Petersburg over to Tampa this afternoon.  The Viaduct extension of the Selmon Expressway is well under way.  I took about 50 photos between FL 694 to FL 60.  I'll probably have something worked regarding the Gandy Bridge and US 92 next week but the photos are ready to go now:

I wonder how they are going to reconfigure the current end of FL 618 with the double loop ramps?  One of the bridges over US 92 is completely gone so I wonder if those two loops will both survive.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

Right now the bottleneck is pretty bad given eastbound US 92 has been reduced to two lanes at Gandy Boulevard and Dale Mabry Highway.  The westbound US 92 ramp from the Selmon Expressway has been eliminated which forces traffic onto eastbound US 92 on Gandy Boulevard right before Dale Mabry Highway.  Traffic coming off Selmon Expressway onto US 92 was literally making illegal U-turns through the median to head westbound on Gandy Boulevard, right now its about as bad as it can get traffic wise.

Oh it was always bad WB to WB, but shutting that ramp down completely was not a great move.

Finished up a small blog post on the Gandy Bridge.  Always thought it was interesting that US 92 wasn't immediately extended either to Clearwater or St. Petersburg following the WWII bridge acquisitions.  Does anyone known what highway number the Gandy Bridge carried before US 92 was extended over it?

Doesn't appear to have had a number.

Actually looks like there was a pretty good chance it was FL 600 surprisingly:

Yeah I had thought about that but wasn't totally sure if that was the case or not.
