Hoping we can take stock as to what colored shields are still around?
Here's what I know of as of June 2018:

The US-17/US-92 shields are still up in Davenport, FL.

and only one US-27 shield remains in Lake Placid.
I only take pics of good looking signs. Long live non-reflective button copy!

Boca Raton has that red US 1 and (ugly) A1A uni-shield, which is from 1992 (the year before new installs were "banned"):

Fort Lauderdale / Dania Beach has some red US 1 signs, though they have stickers from 2003 on the back:

There's a black US 98 shield in Carrabelle:

Faded yellow US 231 sign in Alford:

I've heard there's some more around Panama City, some US 231 and US 98 colored shields.

There's some blue US 90 shields in Sneeds and Marriana, but I don't have photos; was travelling but couldn't stop.

I haven't seen an orange US 41 shield in decades...Sarasota had the last known set of them, but this assembly was removed back in 2014-15. Haven't seen any recent photos of US 441, 331, 221, 129, 29, nor 19 shields. There were also "inverse" shields of several Alternate and Business Routes, but can't think of any recent sightings.

There's also some scattered inverse white-on-black shields which are just errors...

Kissimmee, FL just added some Black US 192 shields as part of the long Oak Street widening.  I have to find my photos and post em as they are regulation size.

Though US 192 used to have green shields, again these shields are a design error as US 98 only used black in the day.

Interesting now as the NB 441 to SB 27 movement is to use that street as the new US 27 & 441 intersection reconfiguration eliminates left turns from NB 441 to SB 27.  So that there is a follow up shield even though the directions are not listed.  However, who is going to complain in the world of Waze and other GPSes verbally telling you how to get to point B.

Google Maps shows a movement from NB US 441 to SB US 27: https://www.google.com/maps/@28.8251731,-81.8863666,187m/data=!3m1!1e3

I am still digging through my many photos I took on 4/28.  They had a TO US 27 SB shield up on NB 441 at Citizens.

Edit: It actually is an overhead there with it posted as US 27 South Clermont even though Citizens is not, but straight through US 441 does list it TO US 27 North which is correct.  Whether that is for a shortcut, I did not photograph the actual US 441 NB into US 27 itself to see as I only did so only going SB at the split.  It might be unsigned there due to it being signed earlier I have no photo documentation.

https://goo.gl/maps/UJgKJcCfytj Its not signed.  So I stand corrected, as I remembered the fact there was no signs there and the fact that Citizens is signed for the actual movement. https://goo.gl/maps/GNknn4rmQ1G2

Is this 98 still around?

I also knew of another 98 on gmaps, trying to remember where it was.

There was one in Port St. Joe, FL when I was there in 2016. Will check on my trip back down this summer.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

Why was US 41 the only orange color shield used, when many other colors like brown, yellow, green, and red were duplicated over and over?

I know US 98 had to be its own color due to it intersecting every US highway in Florida other than US 23.  Heck US 23 could have been Orange to avoid it being used for 4 different routes as that route only clashes with US 1, US 17, and US 301.  I can see why US 23 was not also black as that was the least attractive of all the colors, but orange would have worked for US 23.
