The Icelanders' Gorton's Fisherman logo and the Sabres Buffaslug have to be two of the worst logos in the history of sports.  Often found myself singing "Trust the New York Islanders" whenever I saw a Gorton's commercial.    Also was not a fan of when the Capitals ditched the red, white, and blue for blue, black, and gold (along with the Wizards; those gold tops with black shorts were the most hideous set of unis ever).
Interstates I've clinched: 97, 290 (MA), 291 (CT), 291 (MA), 293, 295 (DE-NJ-PA), 295 (RI-MA), 384, 391, 395 (CT-MA), 395 (MD), 495 (DE), 610 (LA), 684, 691, 695 (MD), 695 (NY), 795 (MD)

The book about the Islanders I noted further up the thread is a really interesting read because it delves into why they felt they needed to rebrand and all the factors (including bad hockey, bad personnel decisions, etc.) that caused the rebranding to fail. There was an interesting comment about the management having the foresight of Gen. Custer, the empathy of Marie Antoinette, and the inventiveness of Wile E. Coyote. Ouch.

Not NHL, but a major upset along the lines of Appalachian State winning at The Big House or UMBC knocking off UVa.  AIC (from Springfield, MA), which hasn't been Division I for long, knocked off powerhouse St. Cloud State in the opening round of the NCAA hockey tournament.  Interesting fact: it comes 20 years to the day after AIC's most famous alum, Jim Calhoun, coached UConn to its first NCAA mend basketball title.

Jumping the top 3 in lottery likelihood, the NHL's first picks will be NJ (boo), NY Rangers (yay!!), Chicago. So did the Devils in fact Lose for Hughes or did they just play like a pile of Kakko? We'll find out!

The me of 30 years ago (a die hard Whalers fan) would hate the me of today (scorned by said team when they packed up and moved to NC) for saying this, but GO BRUINS!!

I'm at Verizon Center for the Caps game. Guy across the aisle is wearing a Whalers sweatshirt. Not many Hurricanes/Whalers fans here overall.

The Blue Jackets have another 2-0 series after a couple upsets against a higher seeded team on the road...

...so congrats on your Stanley Cup title Tampa

73-1?

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised that the Jackets managed to cash in on their early series lead this time around.

That was one hell of a way to win the first playoff series in franchise history.

There's no one for me to cheer for in the playoffs anymore, now that all the teams I wanted to win are gone.

Order of teams I'll root for:
1. Bruins (of course)
2. Islanders
3. Blues (always a bridesmaid but never a bride)
4. Anyone but the Whalercanes.

Even as a Blackhawks fan, a part of me would like to see the Blues win a Cup

If not the Blues, I'd next like to see the Sharks hoist the Chalice

Yeah, going Western Conference for the Cup
