I hope the Leafs get swept personally.
Flames or Oilers have to be Canada's hope.

On the other hand, I wish to see the Leafs going much further and while we're at it, a all-Canadian finale (the last time that happened was in 1989 between Montreal and Calgary) between Toronto vs Calgary or Edmonton or even Toronto vs Edmonton just to see Austin Matthews going against Connor McDavid.

What a game last night - Penguins beat the Rangers in triple overtime!

Those multi-overtime games are the thing I like best about the Stanley Cup playoffs. You don't know just how long it will go on - and you can't look away from the TV because it could end at any time.

I don't have opinions anymore. All I know is that no one is better than anyone else, and everyone is the best at everything

Why do you say that? Your hometown team won.

I slept before my team lost and that angered me

no hockey fans here huh? hoping yesterday's 2nd period opened up the Rangers offense finally...

I love hockey. I've just had a tough time watching much this week due to business travel taking me to the West Coast.

I'm a big Avs fan. I'm curious which series will be our (hopefully overcome) stumbling block this year.

The Blues kicked out the Wild and they'll be the Avs opponent for round 2. https://www.nhl.com/blues/news/blues-to-meet-avalanche-in-round-2/c-334023708

Hurricanes are my #1 team. Lets see if they can get another trophy!

The "Battle of Florida" will begin soon between the Panthers and the Lightning.

Wait, another FL game, just like the Battle of the Blues?
What time does it begin?

They didn't announced yet but I think it'll begin soon. And let's see who's between the Calgary Flames or the Dallas Stars will go to the country club first.

Now then the Leafs are gone to the golf country club, they have now the longest drought in the NHL surpassing the long drought of the NY Rangers (1940-1994). One poster from Skyscraperpage wondered if Harold Ballard still pull the strings from his tombstone? https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9625456&postcount=4726

Btw, Calgary eleminated Dallas, so that mean we'll have a new Battle of Alberta.

Three really interesting series coming up, and hopefully one boring one.

Battle of Florida
Battle of Alberta
Carolina vs. NYR - Super fast 'Canes vs. the Vezina Trophy (likely) winner

then...

Avs vs. Blues. I think Avs roll.

I should also mention that I made a $30 bet back in January that Cale Makar would win the Norris, the Avs would make the Stanley Cup finals from the West and the Panthers would make it from the East. It pays out about a grand, so here's hoping.

I don't follow hockey that much, but I have a question: Does the NHL still re-seed the second round of the playoffs?

Not anymore.

That's kind of what I thought, thanks.

Not sure if anyone watched it last night but Oettinger (DAL goalie) was the only reason that game was close. He faced 40 shots in the first two periods. Crazy.

thank you for finding the last one interesting. I just like that I know a couple of Pens fans on this forum who have moved to NC, so I get to poke at the same people two rounds in a row (and hopefully come out ahead again)

I thought Rangers/Pens was super entertaining. I also won a bit of cash betting on the Rangers to win the series when Crosby got hurt.

ET21

That was one of the best 1st rounds in some time. Outside of the Avs/Preds series, every other one was competitive and 5 Game 7s!  :bigass:

I gotta say, it was NOT good hockey in Games 3, 4, and first half of 5. Games 6 and 7 were legit good hockey - I got to watch 6 on TV as the Rangers clawed back and it was a VERY back and forth game in periods 2-3.
