this is approximately the longest you can drive on the planet, period.

Cape of Good Hope, South Africa, to Magadan, Russia.  nearly 24000 kilometers.

there is a ferry across the Red Sea, because it appears the Egypt/Israel border is closed - at least, Google refuses to route through it.  the all-land "political concerns get fucked" distance probably tips it over 24000.

there may be other ferries across rivers which I wasn't paying too close attention to.
I once did a Cape of Good Hope to Bangkok in Google Earth, and it routed me from Addis Abbaba, Ethiopia west through Sudan, Chad, Cameroon toward Kano, Nigeria, then north through Niger to Algiers, Algeria, then the ferry to Marseille, France, and east through Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India and Myanmar, then finally south into Thailand.

I do not think those words mean what you think they mean.

I can push the route a couple miles more by using either the road West of the endpoint or the one South of it :sombrero:.

And one golf course, if you make a slight detour.

I am curious to know what the longest A to B is in Rhode Island?  I know in Delaware you can travel over 100 miles on US 13 because its long N to S, but the Ocean State is not long nor is it wide either.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

Looks like 69.1 miles from NW to SE. The NW corner of RI is surprisingly remote.

I-95 is only 43.3 miles crossing RI, according to wiki.

Error: It goes thru MA. However, adjust a bit and you have 69.7 miles entirely in RI.

You didn't change it. It's still 69.1, and it's still through MA.

Interesting that RI could get near 70 miles as I thought it would be more like 50 or even slightly less.  However, more interesting that the shorter way is to cut through MA to get from NW to SE.

It's not, but it's the faster way. Going 77-24-114 gives 68.3 miles. (You need three waypoints to do this, since the Goog wants you to enter 24 from Fish Road for some reason, and it also has you bypass downtown Bristol using 136.)

Also note how the Goog's suggested route takes 146 past Woonie and then angles back down. Its alternate route via Greenville is 3.2 miles and 1 minute shorter.

The US 1S suggestion it gives me after removing all the points is about 15 miles shorter.

But that's not a minimal change from the preferred route. And I make the rules because I have the gold.

Yeah, that'd be the RI 138 one. But it's one minute longer (which in reality is completely false). You want something longer that stays inside RI? http://goo.gl/maps/3sndO
