What I don't understand about the flex lanes is that 476 is a different case from 76. Making flex lanes for 76 actually makes some sense due to the geography and the severely obsolete design of the roadway preventing actual widening. But wasn't the 4-lane portion of 476 literally built with wide enough medians and bridges in anticipation that people would complain soon after it was built for it to be widened to 6 lanes?  I suppose the difference in cost between the flex lanes and actual widening is too high.

"Professional drivers remain in both trucks to take control if necessary."
Yes. I'm familiar with how this works in Teslas and other vehicles.

By the time the "driver" is aware there's a situation needing their attention, the truck has already crashed.

Also, what's the benefit of the "driver" if it's the truck doing all the work? You can bet your ass the endgame is to get rid of the driver altogether; the only reason for the "driver" is the appearance of a human in charge, and someone to take the blame for when it all goes wrong.

Quote from: wxfree on Today at 02:37:48 PMI was surprised.  Some time back it was discussed on here that Texas car dealers can operate on Saturday or Sunday, but not both.  (I don't know if this is still the case).  I remember commercials for a dealer advertising that they were closed Saturday and open Sunday.  On that day of the week they have a monopoly.  I was surprised to learn that in the olden days, this, not strictly a Sunday restriction, was the rule for non-food items.

It's still the case in Texas. I think the law was amended for dealership principals whom observe the Sabbath on Saturdays (whether out of religious observance, convenience, or competitive purposes).

In New Jersey, they cannot sell motor vehicles on Sundays, though vehicle repair facilities may perform/sell services and parts on both Saturdays and Sundays. So dealerships have to "rope off" the sales departments from customers.

I'm sure there's others but many states do not have such laws; however, most parts and service shops are closed on Sundays even in absence of such laws. You might find it in the larger stores in bigger cities, because the smaller stores can't justify the additional labor along with the offsetting work schedules with low profit-margin half-days. In some smaller towns, the dealers' service and parts departments may be closed all weekend.

The RV dealership at US-23 and OH-762 is in the process of moving out of the path of the proposed interchange up to a higher spot out of its path.

Back in the day, Indiana wouldn't let you buy alcohol on Sunday. Except for the Sunday of the Indy 500.

A little anti-climactic, but money approved for US 33 widening between I-270 and Canal Winchester.

Quote from: Mav94 on Today at 05:53:42 PMAlso while every state has its share of cities that aren't located in counties with very similar names, Iowa seems to have a plethora of them. Itstarts with Des Moines not being in Des Moines County.

Oh yeah, there are a ton of these. Colorado, for instance, has:

  • Dolores (in Montezuma County, not neighboring Dolores County)
  • Jefferson (in Park County, not neighboring Jefferson County)
  • Kiowa (in Elbert County, not the faraway land of Kiowa County)
  • Kit Carson (in Cheyenne County, not neighboring Kit Carson County)
  • Las Animas (in Bent County, not neighboring Las Animas County)
  • Moffat (in Saguache County, not the distant Moffat County)
  • Montezuma (in Summit County, not over yonder in Montezuma County)
  • Pitkin (in Gunnison County, not neighboring Pitkin County)

And likely more.
