Anyone else remember this?

There was a period around 2001 or 2002 when a lot of food items tasted of soap. I noticed it especially with French fries at fast food restaurants.

This wasn't just one incident. This went on for a good long time at numerous different restaurants.
Might as well face it, pooing is cool

Christ, I hate that style of French fry.  I quit ordering fries at Burger King until they changed them back.

As for the OP, I'm aware that, for many people, cilantro tastes like soap, but other than that, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Uh, no.  But then again, I don't go around eating a lot of soap.

I tasted soap once when I was too curious to what it tasted like to resist.

Who tries soap on their own initiative? :-D

You need better smelling shaving soap, if you've never wondered what it tasted like.

You're the resident soap connoisseur, after all. How can you say no? The general public demands to know.

I shave with actual shaving soap**, not spray or goop out of a can, so I've certainly tasted soap a few times as it has gotten on my lips during a shave.  I've also certainly had soap run from my face into my mouth while showering.  So I actually find it kind of hard to believe so many people have either never or very rarely tasted soap.  I shouldn't think it's all that uncommon to accidentally end up with soap in one's mouth.

**  For anyone interested, I lather up with a shave stick and a brush.  I shave with a metal safety razor that takes a double-edge razor blade, with blades costing between 10 and 20 cents each when purchased in bulk, depending on the brand.  Below are the different brands of shaving soap I currently have in the bathroom.  I also have a couple of cream shaving soaps in tubes, but I hardly ever use those anymore.

La Toja, from Spain

Arko, from Turkey

Lea, from Spain

Palmolive, from Germany

This is true, although I also don't regard shaving cream as soap. I do try to keep both out of my mouth in equal proportion, though!

(I also make no claims regarding whether or not I've ever tasted soap, and whether or not that may have been in relation to running my mouth at my parents!)

I do realize I'm in quite the minority, as I produce shaving lather from hard soap.

I did try shave butter once, but it was translucent, so I couldn't tell where I'd already shaved. I'll stick with Barbasol shaving cream for now. I don't like that shaving gel business they started selling about 20 years ago, either.
