Exit beers - brewer names new beers for NJ Turnpike Exits

Some people have no sense of humor and/or too much time on their hands. 

Why would anyone think that the NJ Turnpike Authority endorses it just because an exit number is on it?  There are plenty of businesses, many alcohol related, that have highway numbers or street names in their names and do people think that their local DOT endorses it?

seems like the Turnpike Authority are over it, and it's MADD that's up in arms.

screw MADD.  one of the few demographic groups in this world more despicable than the drunk drivers are MADD shrills.  pretty impressive accomplishment there.

Is drunk driving a problem with 16-year olds? You can drink at the age 16 in most of Europe, but you can't drive until you're 18.

drunk driving in general tends to be restricted to the idiot population.  I've always thought the occasional summary execution by the side of the road would be a great deterrent.

imagine the effectiveness of a VMS billboard over the holiday weekend that says "you drink, you drive, we shoot you on the spot".

I don't think so.

The official drinking age here is 21 while driving can start between 14 and 18 depending on the state.

Not surprisingly, there is underage drinking but I'm not sure that drunk driving is that prevalent among teenagers.

The Mothers part of the MADD acronym originally came from mothers who have lost young children (under 10) to drunk drivers.

I'd actually argue that's not true. I saw the following situation arise dozens of times in high school among otherwise well-meaning and well-behaved kids:

Kid goes to party, tells parents he's doing something else because Mom would kill him if he were at a party. Mom says "Be home by 1 AM." Kid can't tell Mom "I need to spend the night, I'll be drinking" because then he won't be allowed to go out, so he goes, drinks, and drives home so he doesn't get in trouble with his parents.

This happens all the time. Once they're out of their parents house, they can do whatever they want, which makes it much easier to make arrangements not to drive drunk .

Yeah, I guess there no alternatives after a party but to drive.

In the Netherlands, you can cycle because of the short distances and infrastructure adjusted to cycling, but there's no such thing in America.

It's a problem when DUI gets socially accepted, which is a problem in European countries like Belgium, France and Poland for instance. Belgium has twice the amount of traffic deaths than the Netherlands while they have a population of only 10 million (Netherlands has 16.5 million).
