From last Sunday's (4/05/2009) Defiance Crescent-News, one of the consequences of the US 24 Fort-to-Port Project that has already started to take shape is the beginning of the end of OH 424.  In November, O.D.O.T. turned over control of the stretch of OH 424 in Defiance Co. to the county and the City of Defiance.  When the four-laning of US 24 from Napoleon to Waterville is completed, the rest of OH 424 will be removed from the state highway system.  As of now, an END OH 424 shield (as the article photo shows) is now in place at the Defiance-Henry County Line.

Also noted is that when the new four-lane alignment of US 24 is opened later this year from the Indiana State Line to Defiance, the current US 24 will be decommissioned (slated for November of this year), and turned over to Paulding and Defiance Counties.
