In 1977, snow made it all the way down to *Miami*

The way I know exactly where this is and have stopped at that rest area numerous times...

Absolutely wild to see my old Florida panhandle stomping grounds get snowed on.

We've had bad luck in bringing weather disasters to places we visit in Florida in recent years.  We were in Bonita Beach (not unusual) not long before Ian clobbered it in 2022.  We were in Cedar Key for what was our first and so far only visit there earlier in the year 2023 before the first of the two big hurricane hits they have taken.  We made our first-ever stop in Tarpon Springs last summer, just a couple months before it got hit hard by Milton.  Last summer we also visited the panhandle, focused on Pensacola, for the first time besides just passing through and I'm happy to see that their disaster that followed our visit is just a snowstorm that will hopefully have no lasting impacts.

(I'll also point out that I haven't been to the Los Angeles area in over 20 years so that's all not my fault.)
Photos I post are my own unless otherwise noted.

I would imagine most of the snow would melt today on the roads and should definitely be melted by the end of tomorrow.

One big problem will be refreezing overnight.

Yeah, it depends on how dry the roads get. They just get slushy and wet. It'll cause a mess overnight.

Just think of the people who left their convertibles parked outdoors with the roof down.

It pisses me off that I couldn't get there to document the event. It also pisses me off that the Virtual Railfan livestream cam in Folkston, Georgia crashed, and there's no way anyone can see how much snow is/was there.

And thus, the reason I still use an ice scraper on my windshield.
