What isn't inconsistent in Wisconsin? Just drive around Kenosha and Racine county and you'll see.

...

This is probably my favorite one of them all. You do get a sign that tells you that WIS 158 (52nd St) ends at WIS32

However, this one contradicts it

For the record, WI-158 may have previously ended a bit east of WI-32, for some reason.

I was just down there last weekend, but I didn't drive east of WI-32. So I don't know if this sign was removed or not.

Also, can you cite where you heard that WI-50 was going to be truncated to WI-31? I can't find anything about it on WisDOT's website.

I did look at the Wis 50 site and it no longer mentions ending at Wis 31. It did in the past.

Okay. I wonder if that part of the deal fell through then. Regardless of the reason, I'm in support of WI-50 going all the way to WI-32.

Especially since it's the only Wisconsin State Highway that traverses the whole county from East to West vs in Lake County IL there are several choices.
You can argue that is due to geographical reasons. Lake County is much bigger from north to south than Kenosha County is.

I still prefer one WI-50 over the several inadequate IL routes, IL-173, IL-176, and IL-120.

It's not that they're inadequate, if people knew how to drive they would be fine, especially 176 through Ivanhoe. So many drivers are terrified of those curves and hills. WiSDOT doesn't know how to properly time and synchronize the traffic lights. You'll stop at every single light on both WIS50 and WIS31.

Sorry, but no. All three IL routes are terribly inadequate. IL-120 is partially a freeway, but it unceremoniously ends as a 2-lane in Wildwood and then proceeds to be a horrible drive westward with dozens of traffic signals, level RR crossings, etc. IL-173 and IL-176 are pretty much that way from end to end.  WI-50, OTOH isn't perfect; there are lights here and there and there's the Paddock Lake speed trap that brings a little slice of Mississippi into the north. Nor are drivers in Wisconsin in any way superior to Illinoisans. To the contrary, given the horrible lack of driving skills I see on display here on a daily basis, I actually wonder if there even is drivers' ed in Wisconsin. But I digress....

In summary, WI-50 s a lot faster and when I lived in Lake County, I'd literally drive 15-20 minutes up I-94 to catch 50 for the ride west if I had to travel somewhere like Lake Geneva or Madison or Minneapolis. It's way better than any option on the Illinois side, which is horribly lacking in decent east-west routes.

Are we really nitpicking this? There's plenty of good roads to go east-west in Kenosha County. Hwy C, Hwy 142/S for example.  And if you really are going to nitpick the lack of roads that go east-west in Kenosha County because they don't go from end to end in the county, then you can't count Route 22, Route 60, Route 176, Route 120 and Route 132 because they aren't signed all the way to Sheridan Rd despite their roads reaching it. Only Route 137 and Route 173 do.

Also, Kenosha County at its widest going north-south is 12 miles. Lake County is 23 1/2 miles. Do see how silly your argument is?

So please stop with your Wisconsin bashing. We all know you love to jab it when you can but it gets old quick.

Not only does it get old, but the "bashing" is largely over silly stuff based on whacky opinions more than anything.

At this point, I believe you're just yelling into the void...

WISDOT has an odd way of signing "TO"  each highway which is evident in Green Bay. On I-43, there is a TO Wis 32 shield on the BGS with Wis 172 and I don't think it's needed since there's many other exits that motorists are using besides the Wis 32/Ashland Ave. Yet on I-41, a TO Wis 32 shield is omitted from the Ashland Ave exit when it would be more appropriate to use since the exit is a direct connection with Wis 32. From Wis 32, the connection is signed as I-41 south.

Another place where TO signage would be useful is on I-41 south at Wis 60 where a TO Wis 164 sign would be useful since Wis 164 is close to I-41 and it's a route that many motorists would use. On Wis 164 north, there is a To I-41 sign.

In other cases, WISDOT simply co-signs a highway with another to avoid using a "To"  sign. Wis 91 is co-signed with Wis 44 to end at I-41 in Oshkosh and Wis 182 is co-signed with Wis 47 to US 51 instead of ending at the highways they run concurrent with.

They are pretty inconsistent that way. It seems that they use the "TO" signs quite a bit on routes near major highways. I could be wrong (and often am) but I wonder if the reason they didn't sign 164 at 60 is to keep the traffic level down on 164, like what they tried to do by changing the control city to Rosendale on 151 at 26. There was a lot of local pushback on the northern leg of 164, and it will be a tough battle if they ever have the need to four lane that section.

That is total wild speculation on my part though.

On the Wisconsinhighways.org site, and the Wisconsin Trunkline map, it still shows Wis 158 ending east of Wis 32 at 6th Street in Kenosha. The site states that in 1958, 52nd street in Kenosha was designated as Wis 158.

Speaking of Wis 158, County S has become the better route as Kenosha County has expanded it to four lanes to I-94 while Wis 158 is still 2 lanes.

The Wisconsinhighways.org page appears to be last edited in 2016.  As much as I like that page it is being more and more inaccurate.

My own personal favorite "To" sign inconsistency is in Oconto at the former end of WI-22.  Going south they have the correct To 22 sign, going north they have the old 22 <--  sign

But if I was to nitpick in the Green Bay area would why no End 172 going eastbound, and why no End 141 at it's end south of town(used to have an end sign, replaced only with a JCT-MM).
So Lone Star now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.
