Heading south along US 21 in South Carolina, somewhere between Charlotte and Columbia...

Wonderful photo and a great place to drive, too!

Going back through this thread, I was a little surprised I've never posted this Cabot Trail photo here. We were at the overlook north of Cheticamp facing south.

"You know, you never have a guaranteed spot until you have a spot guaranteed."
—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.

Instantly made me think of another stretch of U.S. 21 further south.

The C-5 Expressway from the top of SM Aura in Taguig City, Philippines:

It looks so much better from above... :pan:

C-5 Expressway

Is this the Philippine definition (= freeway) or the American definition (= divided highway with at-grade intersections)? I'm guessing it's the latter. C-6 would be an expressway under the Philippine definition.

Speaking of which, I need to write some more. :pan:

The stretch of FL A1A between Manalapan and Palm Beach is absolutely one of the best drives on the Atlantic Coast.

The road's about as narrow as it gets (for a state road) along Manalapan...but the shade over the road is the cherry on the ice cream there.

The road is from Hana through Kipahulu, Maui, Hawaii,
it's a challenge to drive on this bumpy and windy road.

This is past milepost 17 on Maui county route 31, the Piilani Hwy, looking west.  The easy way to get there is to take HI 37 to its southern end near Ulupalakua where it turns into route 31, then go until milepost 19 or so.  Turn around and shortly you will see that view.  This looks like it did around the time I first saw it in 1998, after it was newly paved and painted.  When I went back there last year, most of the center stripe had been worn away, except for short portions that had been repaved and re-striped, so the effect wasn't as nice.  In 1998 the smooth pavement end around milepost 19, last year it extended to milepost 29.

Nice view and great shot!

Thanks, I was reading a trip report from the Pacific Coast Highway on another forum and wanted to share it.  The PCH is everything that it is billed up to be and more.

this must have been not too long after May 2009.  that is when I was there, and it is the only numbered highway on Maui I did not drive.  it was closed due to a landslide.

A wonderful photo of one of the most photogenic roads in the world!

P.S. to Fritzowl, no, it would not look better as an interstate.

He would never post in this thread. Every single post of his is in Fictional Highways.
Clinched, minus I-93 (I'm missing a few miles and my file is incorrect)

Traveled, plus US 13, 44, and 50, and several state routes

I will be in Burlington VT for the eclipse.
