The project is scheduled for May 2029 according to this document (page 13).

However, the project cost shown ($51 million) is far below the amount needed to complete the remaining ramps.

A new "Y" interchange will be needed at the South end of the Chisholm Trail Parkway at the intersection with US-67.

Speaking of US-67, it's a freeway going around the North side of Cleburne, but it drops down to ordinary 4-lane divided configuration most of the way between Cleburne and Midlothian. This is yet another situation very similar to US-380 between Denton and McKinney. The South extension of TX-360 now under construction will put more traffic onto US-67.

The I-57 construction project in Jacksonville, AR is interesting with how they were able to pack a 3x3 laned freeway with proper shoulders into a narrow footprint and still maintain continuous frontage roads. The zone just North of exit 11 provides a good example of the finished product. That kind of design will have to be repeated along segments of several corridors in the DFW area. Not just US-67. We're talking parts of US-287, TX-114, US-82 and others. The ultimate build-out of a US-380 freeway between Denton and McKinney could look like that in several spots.
The design will have to be frontage road - Jersey barrier - main lanes - Jersey barrier - frontage road all crammed together. Sounds like they're making it work in Jacksonville. I'll see for myself in just over a couple of weeks.

Quote from: Chris on November 09, 2025, 04:37:31 PMThe original DFW thread has unfortunately disappeared.

I restored the old thread and the associated 889 posts from a database table back-up. When the original topic starter requested their member account be deleted, it inadvertently took all 19 topics started by the account and the associated topic replies with it. I restored those topics and replies as well.

One thing I've noticed with those narrow, space-saving configurations: they don't usually run for any lengthy stretches. In the case of TX-114 North of Fort Worth between the US-287 interchange and Texas Motor Speedway we're talking about 9 miles of that kind of highway needed.

If someone gets pulled over by Texas DPS or breaks down they'll be stuck on that shoulder between the right lane and Jersey barrier. Not much space. On wider super highways with more breathing room it's possible to pull farther off the shoulder. I really like what they've done with parts of I-44 that have been widened to 3x3 going Southwest of Tulsa. The new sections of I-44 have 3x3 lanes, full shoulders and then a gravel area outside the right shoulder.

I was in DFW last weekend. Here is that status of many projects

LBJ East: The $1.7 billion project is nearing completion. The north half is done except for final lane striping. Northbound/westbound traffic is in its final configuration (all lanes open) from Jupiter Road northward. On the south half, work continues on the central managed lanes and the connectors. A photo is below, more photos here (scroll to end).

US 80 in Mesquite including LBJ interchange: Progress is good. Many piers are up, and many beams are in place. A photo is below, more photos here.

I-35E from LBJ to Bush: After years of slow progress, the contractor is now making good progress. All traffic north of Belt Line is on new pavement. A photo is below, more photos here.

I-35, I-35E, I-35W junction in Denton: Work is proceeding quickly on the high ramps. Piers and beams are already mostly in place. Work on the main lanes northward is slower.

I-35E Lewisville: Work at Main Street is proceeding slowly. Work further south at 121 Business and Corporate is just getting started.

I-30 Canyon: Many bridges were removed in January. However, the main lanes are still unaffected by construction. Photos here.

SH 199 Lake Worth Bridge: Traffic is now using the bridge, as noted in a separate thread. The bridge is striped with two lanes in each direction. (The deck is wide enough for four.) It uses all-metal guardrails, which is unusual for TxDOT. However, the project is far from complete. Work continues on the 1.5 miles of new main lanes west of the bridge. The old bridge is now closed to traffic while it is updated for the new configuration. I'm thinking everything will be done by the end of 2026. A photo is below, more photos here.

SH 114 Roanoke: All main lanes are open, as noted in a separate thread. I was there on Sunday around noon and there was a large backup going westbound at I-35W , around 3 signal cycles to get through. I'm thinking the backup is going to be horrendous at evening rush hour. Construction of main lanes through the intersection will probably become a high priority item very soon.

I-820 north: Work is nearing completion on the addition of the third non-tolled lane in each direction. I'm sure this improvement is urgently needed.

TexPress managed lanes on SH 121 (east of I-820): Work to add a third tolled lane in each direction is at least 80% complete and should be open in the second half of this year. This project seems to be taking a long time.

I-820, SH 121 interchange and multiplex in northeast Fort Worth: All work is done, and the long ramps are open. A photo is below, more photos here and here..

S.M. Wright Freeway removal: The replacement boulevard is complete. Photos here.

Spur 399 McKinney at McDonald Street: This is the first project for the new Spur 399 freeway. Work is proceeding very quickly. The contractor Webber always moves fast.

Collin County Outer Loop: as noted in a separate thread, the single frontage road is now complete from SH 121 to the Dallas North Tollway. No construction is in progress at this time.

I was not able to go to the following job sites: Southeast connector in Fort Worth, I-820 southeast Fort Worth, south Chisholm Trail in Fort Worth, I-30 at Lake Ray Hubbard and Rockwall County, Dallas North Tollway North extension.

Quote from: 05danper42842 on October 21, 2024, 03:59:32 PMAny got information on that PGBT Direct Connector to 360 Tollway. Supposedly is a dedicated direct connector for traffic not having to merge on I 20 traffic.

The project is mentioned occasionally in NCTCOG proceedings, but I don't see anything about it on the NTTA site.

I'm thinking that nothing is imminent for this project, and NTTA has higher priorities including the 360 Tollway extension and Bush Turnpike East Branch.
A news Article was found that said the direct connector will go on top like a elevated roadway connecting PGBT and 360 Tollway without getting on I 20.
https://fortworthreport.org/2024/03/05/2-1b-txdot-project-aims-to-enhance-interstate-20-through-arlington/

In the draft version of the 2027-2030 TIP, this project is listed with a cost of $363 million and a construction start date of December 2030 (page 563). However, that's around the same time the SH 190 East Branch should start construction, so it remains to be seen if NTTA will have enough money to start construction of both projects at the same time (assuming neither is delayed).

Not much to see right now on the DNT extension. Overpasses are starting to go up and they're working their way north. I hope they're working toward opening the south part early.

Road Hog

Only update I can offer now is I'm starting to see rebar being placed on main lanes working from south to north on the DNT.

That doesn't mean much because Sinacola was the same contractor on the Preston Road expansion in Prosper more than a decade ago, and I watched that same rebar rust in place for months until the Gomacos finally arrived.

The clock starts for me when I finally see concrete.

The NTTA posted three months ago this video showing the construction progress of the Dallas North Tollway extension.

635 East Project Aerials photographed on April 6

635 East project is finally near the finish line, as of today writing the Northbound lanes of the project will be on is final configuration with 5 lanes weekend possibly. Looking forward to the opening of the express lane allowing for a speedy drive from I-30 to I-35E supposedly is on a 2-lane configuration for both directions.

TXDOT Dallas District Update - April 2026

Thanks to ACSE Dallas YouTube channel they just gave us a overview  of TXDOT recent district update. The next project that is next on line just awaiting on funding is the I-345 Project that also includes the full reconstruction of the interchange of I-30 with I-345. Once that done it sets the stone for I-30 East Corridor Project. Check out the video below.
