My phone is a nokia lumia 810, so i have Here maps from Nokia, which uses navteq for the map data since nokia owns navteq. Your thoughts on this vs lets say google maps for accuracy?
I'm not familiar with it, but here are some checks to see if it's good:
Check the east end of I-290 in Massachusetts. Is the connector to MA 85 labeled MA 85? (It shouldn't be.)
Does it think US 66 still exists?
From Lawrence MA to Salem MA, does it give directions down MA 114 or does it do I-93 to MA 128? (If it does the latter and doesn't give you a choice, that's bad.)
Does it have Northwest Oklahoma City listed as the 2nd largest city in Oklahoma? (It shouldn't.)
Does it have more levels of roads than "unimportant, important, freeway"? (It should.)
Does it give current traffic accurately?
Does it have I-99 in New York? (It shouldn't yet.)
Does it have I-2? (It should. If it doesn't have it, it's outdated.)

It has mA 85 labeled as CONN 85, it also allows me to set route optimizations for unimproved roads and toll roads. It also gives current traffic accurately. No interstate 2, no I99
So it's outdated in that I-99 doesn't appear at all?
Also, any other wrong shields?
It says CONN as in CONNECTOR.
and i meant no i99 in NY
http://here.com is the web version
I can tell it uses MapQuest for importance of roads. That means that sometimes, it calls an important road unimportant (OpenStreetMap and official DOT maps are the best at getting the important roads right).
MA 128's freeway ends early in Gloucester. It should continue further.

What's your overall opinion?

Typically Navteq beats out Google for accuracy of roads, in my experience, and Here in particular does as good a job implementing the data as anyone. You should be all set.
(And I say this even though it's Navteq that has my very own street's name wrong in its database...)
One feature i like, downloading of maps via wifi, it also saves local attractions, businesses, etc.
Found another error: NJ187 is marked as...87. Also it puts CONN and SPUR above highways, so that isn't a state name for the CONN route in MA
Also, if curious about my overall opinion of the phone.
It's great, the user interface is crisp and fast, very customisable to your needs. Call quality is awesome, data speeds near me on HSPA+ (4G on T-Mobile) are about 10mbit down, 1mbit up. The apps are great, the fact that microsoft has basically made sure that UI variances are kept to a minimum helps, unlike on android. My phone is a variant on the 820, which means i got a user replacable battery vs one that is user replacable but needs to use torx bits.
Downside....the app support, the basics are there, but there isn't as much to choose from, windows phone 8 changed the entire OS except for the UI, Windows phone 7 used windows CE as its kernel, Windows phone 8 is basically windows 8, aka windows NT for ARM devices, no windows desktop, just metro

We use Navteq's files as the basis for our geographic information system (GIS) at the office, and I have found them to be reasonably accurate.
They have an (IMO) clumsy way to report errors through this site on the Web:

Supposedly nokia maps (now called "here" maps) allows for you to do that from the phone
