Title: Online calculators for fuel consumption and refueling
Post by: ilvny on October 02, 2013, 09:53:29 PM
Are there any online tools to calculate how much fuel you will use based on mileage and distance?  How about a tool that calculates how much you have to spend on gas to fill your tank based on fuel cost and tank size?

You're smart and that's easy math- why do you need a calculator?

Failing that- http://fuelcostcalculator.aaa.com/

Thank you for the link.  By the way, the math may be easy, but a fuel calculator is easier to use because it is specifically designed for that purpose and doesn't require paper.

It doesn't work very well, IMHO.  It assumes an automatic with poor mileage (2011 Dodge Caliber) for my car with 23 mpg.  I commonly get over 30, and usually 32-34 mpg highway with the manual transmission and 2.0 liter engine.  Thus, I think a calculator would be better.  That's what I use at each gas stop and record it in a book (with the station, date, mileage, price per gallon, city, state, total cost, and total gallons bought).
