Anyone on this forum play OpenTTD?

Anyone interested in multiplayer OTTD among roadgeeks?

I have OpenTTD, but really did nothing at all. Now I'm more focused in the Roller Coaster Tycoon (RCT) series. But I'd like a multiplayer. You could do some changes in the overnight for me and then in the overnight for yours I would make my changes :sombrero:.

By the way, you can select Catalan names for towns. I always used that set since there is no Spanish set. You can end up with a town named like this:

A town named like this one actually exists some 25 miles Northeast of Barcelona. I had it as a long-run trolling in another forum, and I had to visit it at the start of 2011.

Love OpenTTD...

I have built a few maps if youre interested.  Undoubtedly half the time I play is building complex road structures.  The AI is reasonably good at using them, even when one-way roads are paired.

Probably my favorite map I made was the Poughkeepsie-Albany-Catskills region.  That was before I figured out how to import GIS elevation data, but many hours were spent battling roommates in college on said map.

I tend to avoid building many roads when playing OpenTTD, because I never found a way to make them profitable. I end up building very extensive train networks, though.

Out of the box, the game is definitely biased toward freight rail, specifically coal.  But passenger rail can be very profitable too, if the demand is there (big cities or hotels in the FIRS industry set).  Passengers by air can be profitable too, but you tend to run into capacity problems at the airports.

Road transport can probably be made more profitable with different vehicle and/or industry sets, though the initial infrastructure investment can be high (that is, if you haven't yet reached the point where your company makes money faster than you can sensibly spend it).

This usually happens in the real world too.
