Title: Last One
Post by: US71 on October 26, 2013, 09:54:46 PM
I received word earlier today that the last remaining 4-Way signal in Fayetteville, AR, at the corner of Center St and Duncan, has been taken down.

Were you told whether they were replaced with mast-arm signals, or with single-signal span-wires?

Kinda sad in a way to hear.  There's something a bit quaint or small-town-like about the classic 4-sided signal like in your pic.  The only one I know of left anywhere near where I go is just north of Dallas in Addison, at Montfort/Verde Valley ( http://goo.gl/maps/X1DjT ).  I'm not sure if that's a Dallas light or an Addison one, but I'm surprised it's still there.  There are almost no span-wire installations left in the area, and definitely none of the classic like yours.  The only time I see any new span-wire ones is in a construction zone, so they'd be temporary.  There are several right now at many of the cross streets along I-635 because of it's US 75 to I-35E redo.

I wasn't told. I hope to be up that way in a couple weeks to investigate.
