This retired pedestrian signal module insert originally saw service somewhere in New York City. It is the first kind of L.E.D. hand and man insert that originally replaced countless worded pedestrian signals throughout the city. Manufactured by CooperLED/AtLite Inc., the insert is 11 years old, and it still works very well. Below, are some pictures of it.

Beginning in 2000, D.O.T. retro-fitted its original worded pedestrian signals in New York City, and L.E.D. module inserts for them from CooperLED/AtLite Inc. were installed in the housings. Over the years, many were replaced with newer inserts, since some began to fail while in operation. Despite that, others still remain in useful service throughout the boroughs today.
CooperLED/AtLite Inc. no longer manufactures this insert, since it was discontinued in the mid 2000s. Prior to that, after the successful L.E.D. conversion throughout New York City, D.O.T. continued to install this module insert in particular at newly constructed signalized intersections. The housings that these were placed in were polycarbonate G.T.E. model P-6 (1st and 2nd generation) housings.
My insert is currently inside of a 16" Winko-Matic housing, and I originally retro-fitted it. Below, are before and after pictures of this process.

Your signal is not very realistic...authentic NYC ped signals show both aspects at once; yours only does one at a time! ;-)

But they only show both during the 30-second yellow light.

A majority of the L.E.D. hand and man inserts from CooperLED/AtLite Inc. have a typical lifespan of 7 years. After that lifespan, they supposedly begin to fail (as N.Y.C.D.O.T. technicians claim); however, another reason to take into consideration is merely a faulty wiring issue. The problem itself seems to be common amongst the second version of this insert. The first version that was introduced by CooperLED/AtLite Inc. did not seem to be affected by it all.
Despite the lifespan, my insert still illuminates well, since it is 11 years old.
