Watchdog: Red light bribe scandal could be widespread (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/watchdog/ct-redflex-red-light-bribery-20140123,0,7901224.story)
QuoteA fired executive of Chicago's beleaguered red light camera company alleges in a lawsuit that Redflex Traffic Systems doled out bribes and gifts at "dozens of municipalities" in 13 other states and says he is cooperating in an ongoing federal investigation.
The explosive allegations, accompanied by few specifics, suggest investigators may be examining Redflex's business practices around the country in the wake of the company's admission last year that its flagship camera program in Chicago was likely built on a $2 million bribery scheme.
QuoteRosenberg said that during his tenure Redflex "bestowed gifts and bribes on company officials in dozens of municipalities within, but not limited to the following states: California, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia."
I have no idea what this article is about. There are no red light cameras in some of these states.

Redflex could still have bribed officials in those states and then got nothing back for their money.
This is a huge issue in the Chicagoland area. Red light cameras are so prone to errors, its no telling what they do.
I hate them.
Redflex CEO: "So we can spend $20 million on R&D so these things work right, or $5 million on bribes. Let's go with the bribes."

Can't understand why they'd even bother with Massachusetts, since the "no-fix" ticket (a moving violation sent in the mail and not handed to the driver by a police officer at the time of the alleged violation) is illegal here, with only one exception (E-ZPass lane violations).

Seriously doubt it. They know perfectly well how to make them work right. But as always, when the object is MONEY, having them work correctly is far down the list.
