Which state DOT does a good job with their traffic cams?
Such as easy access from their website? Location of the traffic cams themselves and the amount of trafic cams in operation?
I really love those of Georgia... really amazing amount of traffic cams, especially the metro Atlanta area...

Is it really necessary to close so many lanes? In the picture it looks as though one extra lane could be opened without getting too close to the accident. In the opposite direction is a long line of traffic caused by rubbernecking :wow:
The best State for traffic cameras is California (http://video.dot.ca.gov/) as they show live video footage as opposed to still images.
Conencticut does a good job with traffic cams. I-95 has traffic cams it seems almost every half mile or less from the NY Line to just east of Groton. They also show movement too.
Hartford, while has still images, but the major roads there also have cams less than every half mile.
Traffic cams are also being added on Route 9, and I-84 towards Danbury in the not to distant future.

When I lived in Springfield, MO there was a cable channel run by MoDOT which rotated between a few different traffic cams. My aunt said she liked to watch it on icy days for the hilarity of seeing cars sliding around on the ice.
MDOT has dozens of cams avaliable (http://mdotwas1.mdot.state.mi.us/public/drive/cameraViewer.cfm#), but they're all still cams.
DelDOT has a number of traffic cams (http://www.deldot.gov/public.ejs?command=PublicCameraDisplay&county=1) available. These stream at varying rates but are usually decent.
LaDOTD has an extensive cam site (http://hb.511la.org/main.jsf?minLat=28.902397&minLon=-94.306641&maxLat=33.192731&maxLon=-88.879395), especially in BR. For some reason though the NOLA system is not kept up to par like the rest.
MDOT also has a decent cam site (http://www.mstraffic.com).
Seven out of the eleven PennDOT Districts have traffic cameras in operation which are available through this page (http://www.dot.state.pa.us/Internet/Districts/DistrictGraphics.nsf/TrafficCamerasMap?OpenForm) and a mobile version here (http://www.dot.state.pa.us/Internet/web.nsf/PennDOTWebcamsList?OpenPage).
I found NJDOT's camera site (http://www.state.nj.us/transportation/traffic/cameras/). The videos don't look that good on quality, but there are a lot of options for which road you want to see.
