AARoads contributor Jeff Royston visited the Spokane area and noted new overhead signs and route markers for the recently approved business loop for I-90 in Spokane Valley along Sprague Ave and Appleway. Additionally, Google Maps now shows the business route through Spokane Valley, as well as the poorly signed original business route through downtown Spokane (although there are a fair number of BL 90 signs posted near the airport west of downtown).

That turn onto Barker Road is dumb.
PS: looks like it's partly signed as bike route I-90 with signs like this: http://thirdwavecyclingblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/dscn4673-i-90-signage-interstate-bike-route-seattle-wa-west.jpg

Agree. It should keep going a bit further east along Appleway.
Does anyone know why there appears to be an unconstructed or former portion of Appleway between University Road and Tschirley Road?

It's an old rail grade: http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=47.65646,-117.21661&z=14&t=T
Interesting–on the topo map, just north of the trailer park at Park and 2nd, I see an item marked "Historical Monument" . But on the current Google map, whatever it was seems to have been consumed by Dishman Dodge.
I hope nothing truly significant was lost so that some grifter in plaid pants could hawk Challengers and Darts.
